A decade ago, we adopted puppy Ty who became named after a natural disaster and lived up to it. Yes, it’s Typhoon’s Tenth Herdaversary.

Waiting on the Hu-Dad

January 3, 2023 |

In his senior years, Frankie has become quite efficient with his outdoor needs. Besides our daily walks, he much prefers the comfort of his fluffy bed and expects haste in letting him back inside. Unfortunately, he is once again waiting on the Hu-Dad who keeps playing with his camera.

I Demand To Speak To The Manager

December 31, 2022 |

Hu-Dad never quite knows what will disturb the Little Prince, but he never doubts when the Royal Ire has been raised. Just look at the stomping feety-feet. The locked stare. The flaring nostrils. Someone is about to demand to speak to the manager and express some major displeasure.

P.S. – Have a Happy New Year! We will be taking tomorrow off, but will return with Hu-Dad’s Monday Musing and our regular post on Tuesday.

Frankie Suave Zen

December 30, 2022 |

Frankie has long shown a special ability to remain even-keeled and calm despite the chaos that goes on around here at Chez Herd. We’ve long wondered how he maintained such focus, but this sneak photograph might finally show him achieving Frankie Suave Zen through meditation.

Bottled Water Canines

December 29, 2022 |

The deep freeze Christmas weekend caused an unexpected issue for us—we lost our water. Well, us and about 40,000 of our neighbors here in the Southern part of Asheville. The humans did the best they could, including boiling what water we had before drinking, but with the taps totally dry, they scoured the area yesterday for bottled water. We think that’s great, but are we supposed to lap water out of a bottle?

Oh, apparently, we are supposed to wait on the humans to pour it in our bowls. Who knew?

P.S. – The city is reporting they are “making progress” on the failure that started December 24, so we have hope that we will soon see water coming out of our faucets. That’s good because the humans need a bath. Isn’t it fun when we get to say that?

Back To Mischief

December 27, 2022 |

Hu-Dad noted even the Prince of Pranks had behaved the week before Christmas, so maybe that should continue into the new year. Typhoon just laughed and laughed and said it was time to get back to mischief.

A Dancing Boom Boom

December 23, 2022 |

As we enter the Christmas weekend, we thought a dancing Boom Boom performing his Rockette kicks (yes, with both back and front leg at the same time) was perfect. We will be taking the weekend off, returning with the Monday Musing and then our regular posts starting Tuesday. Have a very Merry Christmas (or an excellent weekend if you celebrate something else).

Roscoe’s Serious Pose

December 22, 2022 |

Hu-Dad claims capturing pictures of us isn’t the easiest thing. Something about blurs, and out of frame, and refusal to look at the camera, and a bunch of clowns. So when he said he needed just one good shot, we got Roscoe’s serious pose. Don’t worry—it didn’t last long.

Behaving Is Boring

December 20, 2022 |

We long ago lost count of the number of lectures Hu-Dad has given to Typhoon about better behavior. That look on the Little Prince’s face says he knows behaving is boring and as soon as the lecture is done, mischief will resume.

Making A Subtle Point

December 18, 2022 |

You would never guess from today’s photo that Roscoe’s undivided attention has been drawn to something just out of the shot (aka, a pair of chattering squirrels). Yeah, maybe it is very obvious when even the tail is indicating the direction of interest, so this might really be a not so subtle point.

A Wet Boom

December 17, 2022 |

A nice stretch of clear, but cold weather has arrived here in Asheville with even the hints of snow by the end of next week. Before we get there, though, Landon decided to enjoy a rainy day in the yard. Forgive a little wet Boom for your daily photo.

Wet Trouble Brothers

December 16, 2022 |

Our rainy weather continued into yesterday and a certain pair of mischief makers decided being outside was more entertaining than being inside. Yes, Typhoon and Roscoe make for a pair of wet trouble brothers.
