Speed It Up
A light drizzle fell, so Frankie hurried up his business so he could get back under the roof of the deck. He scrambled up the steps and waited for the gate to be opened. Hu-Dad, unfortunately, doesn’t have four paws to bound up the stairs, so he was a few steps behind. Frankie admonishes him to speed it up.

Poor Typhoon. He wants his world to operate in exactly his way without any outside interference. When he saw kids playing next door, he wanted to yell, “Get off my lawn.” Then Hu-Dad pointed out they were in their own yard and had every right to play there. Typhoon does not seem convinced. (P.S.—No barking was involved, just much staring.)

Roscoe adores his big brother Typhoon, so when he saw him standing alone in the yard, he had to race over. Unfortunately, the grass was wet, Roscoe was going too fast, and his brakes weren’t up to the challenge. Hu-Dad caught this photo a split-second before impact and wondered who said what. So, dear reader, caption this!

What do you say when you had claimed the front of the line to go in the house first but then your big brother comes along and says move it? Based on Landon’s reaction, he appears to have decided the wisest course of action is to say, “Pardon me. Why don’t you go first?”

The most common question the Hu-Dad receives is “Where’s the Sled?” Seriously. We get asked this at least once and usually several times a day when out for a walk. But right behind that question is where all of our nicknames came from. Today’s photo explains the Little Prince. We aren’t sure if that Royal Snooter could possibly be higher in the air as he prances out of the house one morning.

As the senior dog of The Herd, Frankie prefers to let the youngsters play while he enjoys his naps and quiet time. As the eldest, however, he is responsible for keeping watch over all the mischief, something he prefers to do from the comfort of the deck. Let’s just call him the Suave Surveyor.

Typhoon is such a serious dog. He expects the world to move his way, bending and yielding to his every demand. But the Hu-Dad can’t help but to chuckle when the Royal Scowl appears. The Little Prince might be trying to make a point in today’s photo, but the Hu-Dad just thought of it as the March of the Feety-Feet.

Frankie Suave believes in a healthy lifestyle. Two meals a day. Long, leisurely walks twice a day. A good, long nap in the winter sunshine. And, of course, good stretching exercises after waking up from that nap. In fact, he might still be stretching.
Have a healthy, safe, and festive New Year!

Pardon His Highness Little Prince Typhoon Phooey as he sulks. The humans just don’t understand Royal Needs. Hu-Dad noticed the Little Prince’s haunch was looking a wee bit furry and suggested a brushing. And then he did the unthinkable—he touched the Royal Butt with a brush. An actual brush. And tried to remove excess fur. A Royal Scream was emitted. A Royal Huff is underway. So now His Highness is contemplating his brush with horror.

Roscoe considers himself the official timekeeper of the family. He knows the proper time for all meals, walks, bathroom breaks, and—probably most important to him—bedtime. He has many ways to communicate deadlines but the most effective might be the chin resting on the edge of the desk, the soulful eyes staring at Hu-Dad as he does his busyness, and the question “Are you done yet?” Just try to ask for a little more time.

A beautiful sunny day, siblings to wrestle, squirrels to chase, birds to watch—so many things on the agenda for a young Siberian Husky. Normally, Roscoe is eager to please the humans and does as asked, but when called inside during a recent playtime, he gave the look every dog owner knows—But I Don’t Wanna.
