Last weekend’s S-RV adventure was a lot of fun and we enjoyed sharing pictures and videos this week on the blog. But, it was a long weekend and the ride home was pretty quiet, as shown by Cheoah and Kodiak:
We wish everyone a Happy Spring Day! While we are saddened to see winter slip away from us here (we are still counting on a couple of snows left in Mother Nature), we are sure excited about a beautiful spring weekend here at Chez Herd. Here is hoping the Park Service gets some of the seasonal roads open for this weekend so we can do some more back country hiking.
But the first day of Spring is also known as the Vernal Equinox, which means it is the Siberian Husky Memorial time for those who have gone before us and are waiting North of the Rainbow Bridge (and, of course, the non-Siberians who wait at the Rainbow Bridge) Please light a candle at 8 pm (your time) and think of those the Siberian community has lost in the last few months. If you do a search on the page of the previous ceremonies for Nikita, you will find The Herd’s own dear sweet Nikita who we lost in 2006. The one you trained, Queen Natasha, runs the pack well, but we miss you. May you wear your Silver Harness with pride!

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
Cheoah always sleeps in the funniest positions!
Nikita was very beautiful! I’m a few days late, but I will be lighting a candle for our friends.

You know the old saying, “A tired Siberian is a good Siberian.” I personally think we are always good, but we were also tired yesterday. We went for a big walk in a park, then a bike ride, and then I got to practice pulling my dad on his rollerblades. Whew!

That is a lovely thing to do, the lighting of a candle to remember our friends.
Tired content doggies, you don’t get much better than that. :-))

Sometimes quiet is good but Mom always wonders what TD is up to when he gets too quiet.

Woos, the OP Pack
Thanks for your kind review of Beagadoon! Looks like you had a great time in South Carolina – I love visiting my Granny at the beach down there. It was snowing this morning in NYC, I’ll try to save some for you!
Your pal,

My prayers are with Nikita and all other Siberian Huskies at the rainbow bridge.
Of course she trained Natasha well – Leading a pack of five other huskies (into and out of trouble) is no mean task.
