Pesky Camera

March 29, 2022 |

His Royal Highness Little Prince Typhoon Phooey tried to take his Royal Nap, but something kept interrupting. To be clearer, someone—the Hu-Dad—kept interrupting with that pesky camera and asking for a smile. No smile was offered, but a Royal Scowl was given.

Spring Grass Sensation

March 27, 2022 |

The look from His Royal Highness Little Prince Typhoon Phooey tells the story as well as we can. We were patrolling the backyard and inspecting the new sod when the Little Man decided he had found the perfect spot to enjoy the spring grass sensation. He didn’t want to move, go inside, or do anything other than wallow.

Boom Boom Bunny

March 26, 2022 |

There we were just minding our own business during our walk when an attack rabbit pounced on us and Landon defended us from harm. Wait, that might not be quite accurate. Maybe, just maybe, the rabbit was minding his own business when a certain Herd of Sibes on their morning walk might have suggested he come join us. Either way, despite Landon’s best convincing effort, the Boom Boom Bunny declined our offer and took off for the woods. How rude.

Keeping Pace With The Youngsters

March 25, 2022 |

We walk twice a day, every day. Rain or shine, warm weather or cold. A total of five to six miles daily. A senior canine would certainly be allowed to skip if they wished, but Frankie Suave refuses. He’s been a member of The Herd for ten-and-a-half years, so he’s probably twelve or maybe even thirteen, but he is keeping pace with the youngsters every day.

Watching Our Six

March 24, 2022 |

We mentioned just the other day how focused Boom Boom is on our walks, but we did leave out an important detail. He is acutely aware of any movement near us and keeps a close eye on things, particularly watching our six in case anyone comes from behind. He’s so attuned to his surroundings that other walkers have even noticed and jokingly referred to him as our radar unit. With Landon in our Herd, nothing is going to sneak up on us.

Sunshine Makes A Happy Prince

March 22, 2022 |

It’s hard to beat this week’s weather. Plenty of sunshine and blue skies. Afternoon temperatures in the 60’s. Light breezes. Perfect for us to spend the mid-day break out on our new patio and soak in some rays. As you can see from Typhoon’s expression, sunshine makes a happy prince—and that makes everyone’s life easier.

Roscoe’s Pre-Zoomie Face

March 20, 2022 |

Hu-Dad says the day is getting closer that the sod will be rooted enough for the leashes to come off and the Siberian games to begin. Roscoe says he can’t wait much longer and dropped into the perfect pose to explain what he wanted to do. Is that a pre-zoomie face or what?

A Focused Boom

March 19, 2022 |

Landon’s reputation as a free spirit is very accurate. He’s often amusing himself with some invented game, racing around the house and bouncing off furniture (thus the Boom Boom nickname), or generally being a lovable goof. When we walk, though, he becomes quite a focused Boom and sets a determined pace. In today’s photo, he was doing his best to ignore the photographer.

Trust These Faces

March 18, 2022 |

When the landscapers installed our sod in the backyard, they suggested that we should let it take root over three weeks before allowing full-scale Siberian games to commence. To enforce such silliness, Hu-Dad has us on leashes in our own backyard. Last night, Roscoe and Typhoon said they absolutely, positively promised to walk gently if only the leashes were unhooked. Wouldn’t you trust these faces?

Senior Weather Skills

March 17, 2022 |

We walk for an hour every morning and again every evening, no matter what the weather. When the rain comes and goes, we pick a time between showers, but sometimes we have a day with a steady downpour. When that happens, we just get wet. Well, three out of four get wet. Frankie Suave says being a canine of experience means you’ve learned some things. He puts his senior weather skills to work by walking under the umbrella. Smart boy.

Snooty Little Prince

March 15, 2022 |

Explaining the rules of Chez Herd to Typhoon is a thankless—and mostly useless—task. When involved in some sort of mischief, he doesn’t try to hide it. He’s simply astounded that anyone believes a mere human should be able to tell him what to do. Just last night, Hu-Dad made a valiant attempt, but the snooty Little Prince refused to make eye contact in the most royal of all manners.

March Snow Nose

March 13, 2022 |

After a week of sunny, warm, spring-like weather, Mother Nature decided to pull a switcheroo. The winds howled, the temperatures plummeted, and our ground turned white. Hu-Dad did much grumbling and shivering, but we thought it was awesome. The Little Prince even engaged in his favorite winter activity of snooter plowing resulting in this March snow nose.
