After a night of fun, Hurricane Isaias moved north and left our area. Landon inspects the yard and declares everything okay.
Like most hurricanes, Isaias had its own quirks. For us, the wind and rain were less of an issue, but the storm surge came in at the same time as high tide. Much of our coastal area—including our yard—flooded. The good part of storm surges is that they move away about as quickly as they arrive.
The humans spent yesterday morning cleaning up mud and salt grass while we did what we do best—nap. On the really good news front, we are back to receiving our full meals. Of course, we think we are owed some extra food as catch-up, but the humans question our logic. Sigh.

Don’t want to be too negative but be prepared for the next one and the next,……. Having back to to back hurricanes in 1995 in Goldsboro, NC Bertha in July and Fran in Aug left us with a lot of downed pine trees, fortunately none hit the houses much but my next door neighbor’s SUV got flatten by one of our trees. We were on higher ground with good drainage but people near the Neuse River floodplane got total flooding where FEMA bought them out and this one subdivision became a great atv park near the river! The overflowing hog lagoons killed millions of fish and stank up the area! Again in Sept 1999 another hurricane did worst damage(Floyd) that all got me thinking about moving to the NC mtns! There is a nice 26 acre with log style home just on the market within a mile of me and next to the Parkway at 3,600ft, let me know if You want more details! Good luck and good fishing!
Thanks. We loved our time in the mountains and are thrilled we lived there, but we are so happy we made the decision to move to the coast, hurricanes or not.
Our state of Delaware was hard hit in many areas with high winds and tornadoes. We were lucky and our immediate area received no damage and for that I am thankful!!! Our dogs are also happy its over!!
Salt water won’t be good for the nice grass. Hope that makes out ok too. Glad you survived the mess. Now .. for the pool.
