Much to his horror, Typhoon discovered he had a rabbit hunting competitor who was boldly invading the Little Prince’s territory.
We had a steady rainfall yesterday, nearly 4 inches (10 cm) before the day was over. Our feathered visitor had claimed a perch on the fence, spread her wings, and attempted to dry off some. She also discovered that this was a great view to monitor the movement of rabbits, voles, and other delicious creatures. Unfortunately, one of our own was not happy about the competition.
Typhoon’s rule is that creatures outside the fence are fair game to our many predators (bobcat, coyote, fox, and, yes, the hawks, owls, and eagles that soar overhead), but he is sure that inside the fence is his own hunting ground. You will also notice that he is safely standing on the porch and not out in the yard having this conversation.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?

Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.

Ok I hate to e the voice of gloom but please be careful. I had the same situation and it became an issue of territory and my Tibetan Mastiff ended up getting claw marks down his back.. the birds did shift territory but it was not without injury. They are magnificent birds but they do protect their hunting territory, and our dogs are considered intruders.
My boy is fine a shave some vet care and a triple coat protected him.

Our dogs find what rements the red tailed hawk leave them on the other side of the fence. The red tailed hawk grabs his prey and then sits perched on a fence post and drops numerous things. So the dogs on their walk will pick up these delicious treasures and savor them. Yum. Beautiful hawk picture.

Keep at it Typhoon, the hawk will get the message that “share” is not in the husky vocabulary!! But, make that clear from the porch.
Typhoon-I don’t blame you for TRYING to scare of that hawk from the porch! They are very scary. BUT I hope he hunts on the other side of the fence-not on YOUR land!
