We did something very rare last night – we watched TV (Fringe, which just really hits my weird tastes). So all we wanted to do is sit down, get comfortable, have a little quiet, and watch TV. Try that with a Herd living in a house. I am so glad I have Tivo so I can stop the show as needed. Took almost two hours to watch the entire program. No wonder we don’t watch much TV.
First, Rusty wanted to sit on my lap in a recliner at the end of the couch. Notice that the TV screen is still on the menu, so I have not even started the show yet.
When that did not get my attention enough, he went to phase 2 – pulling himself to block the TV. Except, he was not in the line of sight. Good try, buddy.
Ok, come on up. Turn on the TV. Qannik gets jealous. Decides he wants in my lap, too. Notice how motor mouth is loudly complaining about the injustice of it all. Louder than the TV volume, just for the record.
Rusty in a moment you rarely see. Defending his turf.
Which leads to this series of events. In my lap.
Meanwhile, Natasha comes around the other side, spies my beer glass, succeeds in a couple of sips before I get it away from here, and savors the taste.
Kiska gives her best “Look at me, I am not causing any problems” look. It would have been far more convincing if she was not also dragging her claws down my leg in her subtle attempts to get ear scratches.
Sigh.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
Ha ha ha! Gotta love a house full of huskies! I do the claw thing to mom all the time!
Mochi
We watched Fringe last week too! Except we took a nap during the show. Your way looks like a lot more fun.
Kat
And these are the days of our lives. That’s the best show I’ve seen in a long time. Maybe MTV can pilot a reality show for you. PS I would probably go for the sip of beer myself.

I must confess – I love beer….and being on the couch with Dad. Brice used to always sit in the chair with Momma but lately he’s been trying to steal my spot.
Princess Eva
p.s. were Kodiak and Cheoah off raiding the fridge while the humans were distracted?
Oh, I am so lucky! The worst I get is a persistent nudge on the elbow from Ellie with a tennis ball in her mouth. Perhaps you should just take the message and sit on the floor with them.
Way to go, Rusty. Defend your turf regardless of where you are, especially if Natasha is otherwise occupied.
I don’t know why you even bother having a tv.

Holy crap! I love your blog. This was the funniest ever! Just be careful about the alcohol. Just a little can hurt the furbabies.
They aren’t called “The Thundering Herd” for nothing!
Wow! The healthy way to watch T.V. Sounds like a workout. If I had to put that much effort into it I probably wouldn’t watch it either. 😉
I love the picture of Natasha enjoying her lip smacking good beer . . . I mean your beer. Did I mention one of the goat I took to my parents house loves to steal my dad’s beer? It’s a riot!
Thanks for sharing your T.V. land adventures. 🙂
Ah, you guys! You’re pushovers for ’em and you know it!
Some how, I am glad I am an only pup too!
Kisses,
Stella
No way no how am I gittin’ another one of these. I don’t care HOW purty they are! Notice Cheoah and Kodiak are “quiet?”
Mine did the same last night. They’re very good if i sit on the sofa, but Loki was looking extra cuddly so i got down on the ground to cuddle. in 2 seconds, Juno became instantly jealous and walked over and bit Loki’s ear trying to dominant him into play and getting out of his spot! and soon, i there was enough ruckus that i couldn’t hear the TV. damn dogs. Never gittin’ ‘noter one. I swear to Dogs… no way. no how. no matter how cute.
Except for the “getting in your lap” part, that sounds remarkably like watching TV at Ao4 HQs. Isn’t it great fun?!?
We should all get together for TV night some time!
Play bows,
Zim
BOL!!! woo! I guess this is the first time I’m glad to be an only doggy in the house!
What fun at the Thundering Herd house.. Louie is our jealous one. No one but him can sit on Mom’s lap..
Watch your beer mom. You might have a dizzy herd!!
Big Sloppy Kisses

My mom thinks it’s crazy when she’s got 50 lbs of spaniel in her lap! Sometimes my bro and I just can’t resist. But 4 huskies?! EEP!
Can I move in with you guys? I’m a total party animal. I think it would be fun to be part of a pack!! I can wrastle with the best of ’em…
Who needs TV with such amusing canine entertainment? Sounds very familiar but our herd has never exceeded three.
What a lovely family night woo had!!! Next time, add some snacks and the fun won’t ever stop!!!
Mya Boo Boo
Ha – that’s when our Dad says, OK, that’s it, out with you two wild boys. And Kiska, Phantom can pull that card on Mom too – easiest way to get those ear scritchies.
Woos, the OP Pack
Hi Herd– you’re hooman doesn’t stand a chance.. nice move going in 4 the beer Natasha.bet that’s when the party really started!
