Morsels of Food

When you are on a diet, tiny morsels of food can be very tempting. So tempting, in fact, that some green-bean-diet dogs might search for that food for hours.

about me?

Why is everyone thinking that this story is about me?

Of course, all good stories have an evil antagonist. No, no, no, not Queen Natasha the Evil (though she does make a great antagonist), but her sister in arms.

too innocent looking

Me? An antagonist? To my fluffy but no-so-bright brother? Ok, fine.

Meal time at Chez Herd is a very big event. Six bowls worth of very big event. In order to control the chaos, each of us has a crate that we go to just for meal time. By being in crates, the slowest eater doesn’t have to worry about someone trying to take their food and, very importantly, Hu-dad can monitor our diet habits. This can be particularly helpful if someone needs to take some medicine because Hu-dad can validate it has been consumed.

breakfast in crate

Kiska and Qannik enjoying their crate time for breakfast.

Of course, the downside of crate eating is sometimes some morsels of food may fall out of our crate and we can’t get to it until the door is opened. And, yes, exactly that happened at breakfast yesterday. Kiska had a small tidbit of food laying right in front of her crate and both she and Qannik saw it. Hu-dad opened Kiska’s crate door first and, in her stealthy ways, she scooped it up as she walked out to the yard.

Unfortunately, Qannik never saw Kiska’s pick-up and he was convinced that a piece of food was to be found. He searched and searched and searched and searched and . . .

Where did it go?

Where did it go?

Aww. No one dropped a morsel of kibble in front of that searching nose so he could find it after all that effort? 🙂

Aww Poor Q-tip. How could you resist that gorgeous face? I would have to throw a few green beans to him lol. Hugs and kisses to the herd.
