More Herd Publicity for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation

Last May, we showed you a picture that ran in our local paper, The Mountaineer, of The Herd during Sarge’s Dog Walk.  Yep, that is Kiska, Qannik, Rusty, Natasha and Kodiak from the 2007 walk (pre-Cheoah days).

Imagine our surprise when we opened the Mountaineer this week and found a nice article about the upcoming walk, but the accompanying picture in the paper (not connected to the internet story) was this:

Yep, that is our cousin Tartok on the far left and then Natasha, Kiska and Qannik.  That is a red leg on the far right, but can’t quite tell who it is.

This year’s walk is next Saturday, August 8, so we really hope that all of our friends near Waynesville, NC, will come join us for the walk and help us raise money for such a great cause.  If you do come, please come introduce yourself to us.  For some reason, we are easy to pick out of a crowd.

We told you all about Sarge’s recently, but we just can’t say enough about the great things they are doing in our county.  This statistic says it all – the dog euthanasia rate at our local shelter is down 30% since the organization was founded.  30%.  Absolutely fantastic results.

A special thank you to all of our readers that sent donations.  We have received emails from Sarge’s thanking us for your support.  If you have not already, please go to their website – www.sargeandfriends.org – and make a donation.  Tell them The Thundering Herd sent you.  As a family of rescue dogs, we can’t think of a better thing to do than support our rescue groups!

P.S. – We promise to take lots of pictures of the walk itself.

I’m thinking Hu-dad will get halfway to town and have to turn around and go back to get something. Don’t think that it will be any of the Herd but it will be something.
