An experience that any human should have at least once:
You wake up. Â It is 6 a.m. Â You know perfectly well that if you move, change your breathing pattern, or open an eye, six Siberian Huskies will immediately start clamoring for attention. Â You try to remain still and continue to pretend to be asleep. Â This is particularly important because you can hear the rain coming down steadily outside. On top of the RV, which means you are out camping and NOT at the house where you can merely kick said six Siberian Huskies outside to “do their business.” Â Nope, RV means that you will actually have to connect leashes and go outside with them. Â In the rain. While they hunt for that perfect spot. Oh, did we mention that you not only forgot the laptop wireless card, but that you also realize that you forgot to pack any rain gear. And you hear the first whine. Â From the human.
Yes, that was Sunday morning. Â Sadly, there are no pictures of that walk because we decided that the camera should not be flooded. Â We do, however, have pictures of the Herd after coming back in from the rain. Â We should be clear. Â We did our normal walk, not just a simple out and back. Â A couple of miles in the driving rain. Â If this was a scratch and sniff blog, you would currently be getting the aroma of wet Siberian Husky.
Cheoah (Since Cheoah means Otter in Cherokee, she loves being wet)
Rusty (Who refused to pose for a picture and is a little busy at the moment)
Natasha (Apparently, the rain does not defer to royalty)
Kiska (Gotta love that wooly coat when it is wet)
Qannik (Fluffy dry, Fluffy wet – no real difference)
Kodiak (Do we look happy, or what)

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldnât have been much worse.
I bet the S-RV smelled SOOOOO good after that walk!
Steve
You guys still look great, but Kodiak really does not look happy! đ
Mochi
Wow, so many beautiful pups you have here!!
I am quite sure that Queen Natasha had plenty to say about the rain not deferring to her.
Huffle Mawson
Do you guys smell like wet sheep when you’re wet? Mom always says we smell like wet sheep or wet sweaters… which is odd, because none of her sweaters are wool. Hmm…
Love,
Ammy
PS: Kodiak….. you just don’t look happy at ALL!
Quannik has “that” cool fur that never really gets wet…like the water stays on top of him. you’d have to dunk him in a lake to probably see his rib cage.
Kiska is still my fav, (I love my girl dogs) wet or dry and Natasha…we’ll… of course weather has no impact whatsoever on royalty. DUH!
wet dogs…delicious!
Us bullies are like Quannik – we look the same wet and dry – short slick fur – we actually tend to repel water – but we understand Kiska’s issues too our cousin Gypsy looks funny when she is wet!!
hope your walk wasnt too horrible and you found better weather later

One thing that a dog learns in the slammer is to hold on. . .and I can do that especially if its raining! You just need to concentrate, you guys!
Kisses,
Stella
Poor Kodiak looks miserable!
Miles in the rain, without gear? Now that’s dedication!
Nothing like the smell of wet dogs!
Poor Kiska! We understand the wet long hair challenge! Dry Belgians = beautiful. Totally soaked Belgians = Not pretty, not even to Momma.
Haroo! We really liked your description of waking up. No camera necessary. We could visualize it all.
We walk in the rain too. (downpours) At least it’s cloudy without the sun beating down on us
Oh my! I have had only as many as 3 dogs at a time but I’ve had almost the same experience. You are dedicated. I didn’t do miles with my dogs… I was a wimp! We were on an almost month-long trip in our camping van during which it rained so much that we finally stopped at a thrift store to buy *all* the towels in stock for drying dogs at the van door!
Sorry it rained on your parade.
That’s a good way to get an easy shower:) Qannik is again like Dakota, wet or dry, always looked the same – gorgeous.
Hope you found some decent weather later in the day.
Well, since the humidity here is 99.99999999999%, Mom and I will just pretend the fog outside is rain…
SNIFF!
SNIFF!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
