Two key pieces of information explain this picture.
1)  The dog area does not have any grass in it.  None.  To be clear, I do not have any problem with grass.  Would be glad to seed the area.  But The Herd likes the various excavation projects and no plant stands a chance of surviving inside the dog area.  So, I spread straw and they can dig as much as they want to.  Seems like a fair compromise to all of us.
2) Â Cheoah likes water. Â No, Cheoah LOVES water. Â I mean really, really loves water and loves to be wet. Â In case you need a reminder of exactly how much she loves water, check out this post of Cheoah playing in the Nantahala River or, even better, this one of her playing in the water bucket. Â Remember, Cheoah is Cherokee for Otter, and no dog has a more appropriate name.
So, we came across a large section of green, green grass that had been soaked in several days worth of rain. Â Cheoah, naturally, wanted to enjoy that combination. Â If you are going to have fun, abandon all inhibitions:
Â
P.S. – We have thoroughly enjoyed the blowing coat posts. Â The ones we have seen:

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldnât have been much worse.
Was Cheoah grass stained down her sides after a roll in the wet grass? I bet it felt great!

Ooh, that grass looks so comfy! My grass is a mixture of nice grass, junk grass, nutgrass, weeds, and stickies. Maybe I should help mom and dad dig up all the grass so they can plant nice grass. đ
I haven’t posted any pics of my coat blowing yet. I think they are going to brush me this weekend. đ

That’s a great pic and a great story to go along with it. We do have grass, not sure how it lasts, but for the most part ours just leave the dead trail along the perimeter of the fence. Oh, and the one big pee spot that Dakota uses consistently:)
woos, the OP Pack
Hehe.. we do get in the funniest of positions rolling around don’t we. It is fun to rub and roll! đ

That looks really nice Cheoah! I think that I should be called The Other Otter–because I LOVE water. In fact, I stole the shampoo bottle out of the shower today while John was in there!

Ah yes, the yellow yard dog owner’s lament. We too see a similar reaction from the dogs when approaching virgin grass patches. Fortunately, our coats have already worked themselves out đ
(SIGH) Momma remembers back when we had nice grass in the backyard….. front yard is great. Backyard is full of weeds since they’re green and we can’t seem to kill those.
