When Frankie Lost His Suave

Not many things ruffle our cool leader, but a recent encounter with wildlife made it happen—Frankie lost his suave.

Frankie doesn’t like loud noises—thunderstorms, fighter jets, etc.—but otherwise is the most easy-going canine in the house. He handles schedule changes and shifts in our routine without complaint. But a recent wildlife encounter left him shaken.

We were on our twice-daily walk when Frankie began kicking and bucking, twisting and turning, doing everything he could to rid himself of the monster. The humans braved the danger and removed the offending creature and sent him on his way. It was the attack of the dreaded…caterpillar.

Frankie, I completely understand. I’m not a fan of caterpillars either. When I was little, my brother used to put them on me! EEEEEEEKKKKK. So glad your humans were able to help you.

If it weren’t for caterpillars there would be no butterflies, something I used to tell my mother who also despised them.

Butterflies are cute and can flit around my all day. Caterpillars are scary.

Aww, Frankie! Our Oakley, who reminds me of you, is afraid of turtles, or anything that slightly resembles a turtle. We must thank you and Oakley for warning us about caterpillars and turtles!

Reminds us of the very first Siberian Husky in The Thundering Herd many, many years ago. Miss Nikita was caught playing catch in the backyard by herself. She was flinging a turtle into the air and catching it on the way back down. CLACK! Hu-Dad rescued and released one very dizzy turtle while Miss Nikita stomped her feety-feet and snorted in disgust at the end of her game.
