Since he has now been at Chez Herd for almost a month, it was time for Roscoe’s first vet visit (cheese and treats were involved).
Roscoe handled the vet trip like a pro. His only moment of hesitation was when he realized he was in the Jeep alone, but once we pulled up to the vet’s office, he was happy to meet and greet. Especially since everyone decided he needed a few treats.
Lab results will not be back for a few days, but everything in the exam pointed to a quite healthy dog. We did decide he could add 1-2 pounds and be fine in his frame, news he was quite happy to hear and share back at home.

Hurricane Hugo Memories
September 21, 2024
Thirty-five years ago, a massive storm hammered our region and left a path of destruction, leaving us with Hurricane Hugo memories.
Charlee: “Good job, Roscoe! You were very brave!”
Chaplin: “Says the cat who hides in her crate when we go to the vet.”
Charlee: “Well maybe if we went to the vet and they told me I needed to gain a few pounds, I would like it there better. But probably not.”
Chaplin: “I know I would like it better if they said that!”
Mom & Ebby say: Oh, that Roscoe is going to be one handsome boy, once he puts on that “other couple of pounds” He has such a sweet face, Ebby says.
Beautiful news Roscoe, you handsome boy!!!
We have never been told we could gain weight–we want your vet.
I bet someone will be getting extra dog cookies this holiday season!
He’s such a handsome boy and should fill out nicely. It’ll be interesting to see where he wants to sleep down the road.
Oh boy! More treats? I can handle that anytime. I bet the rest of the bros will want more treats too…oh well. Good job Roscoe. I’m sure they fell in love like the rest of us, lol.
How is Roscoe handling creating to eat? Since he’s a lap lover, will he try HuDad’s bed with Frankie Suave?
He figured out quite quickly that the dinner crate is awesome because food arrives, so that adjustment was easy.
And he is still crated at night when we sleep, so he hasn’t slept in the human bed yet. Frankie doesn’t mind sharing though (well, as long as he gets the prime spot).
GOOD job Roscoe boy! It’s always wonderful to be told we can GAIN weight-that means MORE food and lots of treats!!!
