Hu-Dad heard it – clear as a bell. The noise echoed. A giant rat was chewing our house. But don’t worry, we caught the culprit.
Hu-Dad was walking through the kitchen when he heard the unmistakable sound of chewing in the walls. The racket was loud, echoing throughout the house. He quickly traced the noise to a spot on the wall and then looked outside. The damage was easily spotted, the cover of an electrical outlet with teeth marks.
Giant teeth marks.
Hu-Dad guessed that a rat big enough to make those marks probably weighed around 50 pounds. Now exactly where would we find a giant, 50 pound rat?
Hu-Dad pulled out some Bitter Apple and sprayed the cover. The rat took one taste and decided to leave it alone. Though the rat still had no comment.

Hurricane Hugo Memories
September 21, 2024
Thirty-five years ago, a massive storm hammered our region and left a path of destruction, leaving us with Hurricane Hugo memories.
Dashi used to chew on the wall of his kennel, and I was advised to put chilli oil on it, because he wouldn’t like the taste…. hmmm, guess who turned out to enjoy chilli-flavoured wooden kennel wall? At least he stopped once he removed the entire end wall… *sigh*
My Leena would be retarded enough to probably like the taste and just keep going.
squeeeeeek!
Too funny! We had a dog who chewed through a door to get to cat food. Looked like a shark had taken a bite out of it.
I have had the same problem. The rain will wash off the bitter apple eventually. I made a triangular shaped cover out of treated deck boards that are holding up better than the easily damaged plastic dryer vent cover. Try it! I have the folding Grizzly sled! Got it at a SHAR fundraiser in Bristol a few years ago. The wheeled part was not available. Got the demo vcr tape years ago when I wrote them in Montana and they said they stopped making them!
