Landon’s Santa Claus Letter for Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of our readers! As is the rule in so many households, the youngest gets to go last, so today we present Landon’s Santa Claus letter.

My serious look.

My serious look.

Dear Santa,

Some of our readers have been wondering why my letter was not shared until Christmas Day. After all, how are you supposed to grant my wishes if my letter isn’t out before your big travel day?

The answer is simple. My Christmas present came early. I got a forever home! With lots of brothers and sisters!

I’ve got a cranky older sister who yells at me a lot. A big, fluffy older brother who isn’t very fast and a big brother smaller than me who is the fastest animal I have ever seen. Another older sister who plays with me and another big brother who lets me follow him everywhere. Not to mention humans who take us all on adventures and put up with all of our Siberian games.

What more could a rescue dog want?

Only one little thing. For all of the other dogs (ok, fine, and cats, horses, etc.) in rescue programs and shelters to find their own forever homes. So, Santa, my wish is that all of our readers out there play Santa Claus. They could go big and adopt a rescue. Or they could write a check before the end of the year to Southern Siberian Rescue (where I came from), Siberian Husky Assist (where Frankie and Typhoon came from), Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation (where Qannik and Cheoah came from), or their own favorite rescue. Or foster a dog from a rescue. Or volunteer at a rescue or shelter.

So, Santa, my letter comes on Christmas Day simply as a celebration!

Merry Christmas to Everyone!

Work's done. Let the games begin!

You are one lucky pup, a forever home with loving humans and lots of brothers and sisters for adventures. A very touching letter of appreciation and thankfulness. One day all the animals without forever homes will be gone. Merry Christmas to the humans and fur babies at Chez Herd. Thank you for sharing your life with the world and putting a smile into our daily lives. Much love to all!!

Mom ‘n Ebby say: What a wonderful “present” you have asked for, Landon. We only wish it could come true. We have a foster care program here in Dawson Creek, too, with the co-operation of both vet practices, and the local SPCA, who do their best to find loving homes for the four-footed homeless in our area, and the local SPCA shelter is nearly always full. We are SO glad you’ve found YOUR forever home, and have all those brothers and sisters. We just wish that EVERY homeless or shelter “critter” could find the kind of loving home you have, Hope you, the rest of the Herd, and the hu-Dad and his family are having a wonderful Christmas.

Landon’s letter expressed what I expected but it still brought tears to my eyes. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Herd and the humans from me and my three rescue corgis, nine rescue cats and two horses.

Yes, Landon, you have a very special home now and lots of brothers and sisters. You are so kind to want good homes for all the other animals. I want that as well. I wish I owned 200,000 acres where I could keep all the abused horses, dogs and cats that are starved for a good home like yours. Merry Christmas to all your brothers and sisters and tell HuDad merry Christmas as well. Be good now.
