Settling Into A New Home And Making Friends

Settling into a new home and making friends can be challenging, but Landon is working very hard to be part of the family.

Settling into Chez Herd is awesome!

Chez Herd is awesome!

New schedules, new sleeping spots, new yard – everything is a change in your routine. Most importantly, new friends! Landon is still working through one-on-one sessions with everyone. As he gets used to each dog’s style of play (or not play, in a couple of cases), he will be more prepared for larger group dynamics. We prefer to move slowly through introductions to forge strong bonds.

I was an easy newcomer, wasn't I?

I was an easy newcomer, wasn’t I?

It has been three-and-a-half years since Typhoon joined the Herd, so we have been a stable group for quite a while. The joys of integrating Typhoon Phooey might have faded a little bit from memory.

I haven't forgotten.

I haven’t forgotten.

No great surprise that Typhoon and Landon have had the longest play sessions of anyone. Not to mention hole digging sessions. And stick gathering sessions.

P.S. – We have also learned that Landon loves choir practice and Kiska seems to approve of his singing voice.

Landon is a handsome guy! Sounds like he’s fitting in nicely. Can’t wait for his back story. Maybe Typhoon had met his match!

Mom sez: Oh my, it sure doesn’t seem like 3½ years since Rusty crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and Typhoon arrived at Sibe Quentin! Where does the time go? It would appear that Landon is already fitting in quite “seamlessly”, at least to us, just “looking in”, but not really “being there”. At this rate, it won’t be long before he’s just “one of the Thundering Herd”. Well done Kirk, and “Everypup”!

Landon looks happy to be there. I wondered what got you to So Sib Rescue when you did and if Landon had just gotten there recently.

I can’t believe it’s been three and a half years since Typhoon arrived in the herd! Wow! Glad to see the beautiful Landon is settlino into the herd! Typhoon is probably very happy to have another playmate!

I would love to hear the choir one of these days! I’m so glad introductions are coming along nicely. I’m so excited about Landon that you’d think I just brought home a new pup myself!!

Three and a half years since Typhoon Phooey arrived? Wow, time flies! Always good to have another member of the choir! 🙂

-Fiona (and Daisy, who seems to think the integration process involves a lot of attacking hind legs and ears….)

So Happy to hear this. It’s funny I remember the post from the group you got Landon from, they reminded you of their existence and you said… I have heard good things we have never adopted from you but we will check it out. I always believe that when our dogs pass their paw is always in guiding us to our next fur baby. Perhaps that one message amoung the hundreds you received was a nudge from the Queen,I mean you don’t believe she would leave the expansion of her Herd to Hu-dad alone do you?
