Just before Christmas, Qannik got the bad news that he had a little too much fluff under all of that fluff and was going to have to start the green bean diet. We stopped by the vet office today for a weigh-in to see how well things are going.
Q-tip weighed 62.5 lbs (28.3 kg), down two pounds in just three weeks. The good news is that he is moving in the right direction. The bad news is he has a few more weeks of the green bean diet to go.
P.S. – The green bean diet is one of the fastest and healthiest ways for a dog to lose weight. You simply continue to serve the same size meal, but replace some of that meal with green beans instead. For example, if a dog normally gets a cup of kibble, you can reduce the kibble to 2/3 of a cup and add 1/3 a cup of green beans. Dog still feels full, but has consumed less calories. We use canned, unsalted green beans, but others use frozen green beans.

I Actually bought a case of green beans at Costco for myself. If it works for Qannik… except I guess adding butter would defeat the whole thing?
Broken paw, poor thing! How she is much better.
Oh good luck! Harlow needs to shed a few post-broken paw pounds, but with her aversion to vegetables its a little harder for us.

He looks thinner!
I love the green bean diet
I work with shepherds and I use the frozen they seem to respond better to the crunch but that is the only difference
Between the canned and frozen it’s which texture they respond to better.
