Weird Weather

Yes, we know it is the middle of May, but we had quite the surprise weird weather yesterday. We had a brief snow squall lasting about 15 minutes during the afternoon and we were quite excited.

Quick – I have to go tell everyone!

I was running around the yard wooing, but then it all stopped.

I thought winter was done and there was snow!

seen snow in May

I’ve been around enough years to have seen snow in May before, but I still thought it was cool.

Most people think of North Carolina as a warm weather state, but did you know that nearby Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi at 6,683 feet (2,037 meters), has had snow every single month of the year – including July?

Mom sez: Yes, we had one of those freak snow squalls pass through Dawson Creek on Thursday (May 15), too. That was the day I had the winter tires taken off our van, and the summer “sandals” put on. Ice just gave the whole outdoor scene a disgusted look, and went back to his piece of rug in the hallway, saying “Glad someone was excited!”

We have to agree! I worry what hurricane season is going to bring us this year!

I think it is amazing just how excited they get when it snows! I live in the mountains of Utah and one of my two always has to find that very last patch of snow to lay on. I have also had snow in July. I look forward to your posts everyday. Have a great and adventurous weekend as I am sure you will with the red.
