A Walk on the Trashy Side

Maybe my neighbors didn’t notice, but I took a walk on the trashy side last week and need to confess my mistake.

We Had A Little Snow
Our winter may have been mild so far, but, like much of the east coast, we had a little snow this week. And so we had a little fun.
Nice work for a working breed!
We’d all be happy to have our image ruined in your living room! You two look like you live in the lap of luxury there. What’s in the vases on the shelves?
Those are face jugs, a particularly type of pottery that had their U.S. origins in this area (debates about whether that is North Carolina, South Carolina, or Northern Georgia – but in this region for sure). They were a craft of slaves that may have been used simply for water, but were more likely used to keep others from seeing what was inside (whether slave owners or children – the faces were meant to convey evil).
The craft was picked up by others, including some of the moonshiners in the area.
They are fascinating works of art.
What? Fireplace? *giggles* Just kidding…. I am all about some sofa-surfing!
BUSTED!!!! There goes our image of a SiberHerd of rugged, Northern Sled Dogs. Oh welllllll!
Not as far as we’re concerned! Besides, your fireplace looks rugged and all.
Can me and Zim come over? We aren’t allowed on the comfy furniture. We’ll bring snow!
