Weekly thoughts from our Hu-Dad with the latest updates on his writing projects, the books he's reading, and a gratuitous dog photo of us.
A Grateful Memorial Day
May 28, 2023
On this very special day, take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Have a grateful Memorial Day.
Way Back Wednesday
Each week, we reach back into our vault of over 4,700 previous posts and share a favorite. We hope you enjoy this look back.
We Had A Little Snow
Our winter may have been mild so far, but, like much of the east coast, we had a little snow this week. And so we had a little fun.
Oh yeah!! Working hard on your vacation!! Wootwoot.
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
So the humans are questioning your ability to leap into action with the slightest sign of trouble? You’d think they would learn how fast we jump into play mode when there is even the slightest hint of someone ready to rumble.
Sigh. Teaching humans is a full time job.
You guys look totally prepared to us.
Rosemary, aka Batgirl
Looks like team work to me!
Kisses and hugs
Keep up the great work guys! 🙂
One alert Sibe can stand guard, eat cookies, keep tabs on all the surrounding wildlife, shed, and still interact with the humans all at the same time. Who is going to mess with a 5-pack anyway?

Great post! Love those crossed paws on Rusty.
Woos – Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Kiska and Rusty, I want to know what you slipped into the water bowl to make the rest of The Herd pass out! Did you shave any of them funny while they were out cold?
Wow, I have never seen all of you so tired!
To be fair, maybe they are listening for intruders tunnelling UNDERGROUND!
LOL. Excellent job!
Oooh…I see Kiska floof! 🙂
What a wonderful post!!! So great to go camping and sentry duty is a very important part. Is that rock climbing gear near Cheoah??? Looks suspiciously like it!!! You’all going rock climbing heheh!
There is power in those khrossed paws!
Don’t evFUR doubt THAT!
Never trust a boy to do anything!
Good boy, Rusty, stepping up to protect your herd!
Laughing – not cats. Those are actually ceramic Siberian Huskies that we set up when we are camping in the S-RV. We saw the cutest dalmatian statue at one campsite and went looking for Siberian statues.
In the photo with Cheoah are those cats in the perimeter????? Rusty…did you get the cookie??
Sorry Kiska no nap for you!!!!
Licks & Nibbles,
Kody & Nia
I like the strategically-placed ground floof early warning system.
I hope you take frequent breaks from all that work!
PS: I thought at first that you said you “remain vigilant to ANTELOPES”. hee hee hee!
Looks like ya’ll are being watchful for the “Sandman”! HEHEHE!
Woofs and Kisses!
The Fiesty Three

Glad they share their guard duties evenly, lol. Kiska, your spot seems a little tuft-y!
