Huntington Beach State Park

As we mentioned Sunday, we are staying this week at Huntington Beach State Park.  We are often asked why we prefer state parks to the commercial RV parks that offer so many more amenities (like, say, wireless internet rather than struggling to get a Verizon Wireless Laptop Card to connect to the internet).  Let us explain:

Developed Residential Beach (Commercial Beach has all of the high rises)

State Park Beach (Both pictures taken from same place – border of state park)

That certainly looks beautiful!! But, I think I would still prefer my snow to the beach! Glad you are all having a great time!!

I love the portrait of the red team at sunrise! Which brings me to another questions. Do your humans match their clothes to which ever team they have? Also, is the same human always with the same team? We usually have girls against boys at our house. Mom and Kat and then Dad and me.

Oh, what beautiful photos – Mom wishes she were at the beach now instead of having to deal with cold and snow and lousy roads. Not us, we love our snow-filled yard. Great to see that Rusty has fun no matter what the weather or situation.

Oh, wow! That ocean is SO cool. Even better than the Kansas Ocean, I dare say!

Wow those are some very pretty photos! I’ll hound my humans to take me to the beach soon. It sure beats going to the vet.

Oh, that looks so beautiful. I could take my humans on a nice long tow – and I bet there are all sorts of delicious scents on a beach. I’ve never been to an ocean. 🙁 My humans need to get a Hound RV!

Wow, I have to say, I’m jealous. It’s just cold and crappy here and you’re at the beach! The beach is AWESOME! Watch out for crabs though, they will pinch your nose, not like I know about that or anything….whistle whistle….

I love beautiful wide open spaces where Dad and I are alone and there are no other people! We can walk at our own pace and stop without distractions to smell the scents. Sometimes if we are really quiet, we see amazing parts of nature…like an owl perching or a fawn following its momma. Enjoy the solitude of your lovely beach.

Don’t blame you a BIT!!! Much better than commercialism! And the scenery is spectacular! Have fun!

    Wow,
what a wonderful beach. I am a bit jealous.
In France, no dogs allowed on the beach.

Beautiful sunrises/sets! I am with you on the state parks, especially off-season. Then you can always go to Myrtle Beach to buy those mementos of your trip, get each of the pups a beach ball that says I had a Ball in Myrtle Beach. I know you will want six of those, I just know it.

    Cheers,
    Jo and Stella

I get it! What a gorgeous place. I adore that last photo.

  22. Norwood on December 29, 2009 at 7:18 am

I can appreciate the serenity state parks offer.. particularly off season. Our state parks have similar laws are are diligent about enforcing.
Absolutely beautiful. How’s the weather and water temp? Anyone put there toes in the water?

I totally understand the want to be away from people – Marge wishes every day of her life were like that. LOL.

Hope you enjoy your get away from it all. This sure will be different after seeing you guys trudge through feet-deep snow – wet sand is so much fun to walk on!

  26. Wild Dingo on December 29, 2009 at 1:59 am

Well, even the Herd needs a break from their adoring fans. high rises and commercial parks are just magnets for the pupparazzi! Now the question is, why the leashes if there are no peeps or dogs around? hmfph! 😉

    • D.K. Wall on December 29, 2009 at 5:43 am

Wild Dingo – As always, thanks for visiting. Why the leashes? 1) State park law requires dogs to be on 6 foot or shorter leashes and under control at all times, even on the beach. And 2), We Siberians are not exactly known for coming when called and The Herd could end up in Miami if we were off leash.
