Rainy Sundays

Wow, how is it ever been raining this weekend.  We have had measurable rainfall (according to our hu-dad’s weather station) 18 days in a row and over 3 inches of rain since Friday morning.  We would consider building a Siberian Ark, but we had a great distraction Sunday instead.  Bully Sticks!!!  Sorry for the blurry pictures, but with it dark and gloomy outside and us, well, chewing so quickly, photography was a challenge.

Rusty – Ignore the fur on the rug please

Qannik – Eyes so dilated you can not even see the blue

Kodiak – Please ignore the smudged window behind him

The total room

To answer the obvious question, we use the crates for treats despite very good behavior around feeding time.  But treats are special and can cause a squabble if not carefully monitored.  With a herd of six, it is just safer to use the crates.  Rusty and Kodiak are perfect gentlemen around food, so they are allowed out of their crates to enjoy the chewing time.  The others – well – it just works better this way.

I love that you use crates to keep everyone safe and happy. We have baby gates and hand out kongs and bones to each in their safe areas. Nothing like calm, safe, happy pups!! I laughed out loud at that other picture of the cute fluffy white dog staring at the thundering herd in your wrangler…too cute!! Does your herd bark and howl when they see dogs/people/squirrels? Nobody gets tangled? My crew travel in crates…but we may start trying seatbelts now that the Guppies are semi-adults 🙂
    kisses to the entire sixpack!!

p.S. Do you have an update on that missing hunk of a dog, Laska?

Bully sticks are so yummy. We usually only get them when we are supposed to be very good.

Well you have to maintain order, even at treat time! Trixie often winds up with all the treats when we hand out something long-lasting like a bully stick, but she readily submits to confiscation and redistribution of her loot. This is because she knows she can steal it back again after we leave.

It never fails. Lucy will chew hers for 2-3 minutes. Then she decides Ellie’s must somehow be better, so she walks over and takes the one Ellie had (and Ellie lets her). Ellie goes to pick up the one abandoned by Lucy and chews on it. The process repeats itself many times over. Despite this behavior, Ellie is actually the alpha but for some reason will allow Lucy to take her chewie.

Well, even for those in the crates, treats were delivered so it’s all okay.

What a wonderful way to spend a rainy day. Perhaps you need to get mom to make some popcorn and watch a movie?

We are getting our first serious rainy day for quite a while and now we are getting nervous that it might just stay like yours did, or like Georgia where people need boats to leave their homes!

    Cweepy is what it is!

    Kisses,

We don’t get crated with treats but we do get supervised in case somepup finishes his first and tries to steal mine.

Don’t worry about the fur on the rug and the smudges on the window. My house looks the same. I think Storm sheds six Sibes worth of fur. 🙂

  17. KB on September 21, 2009 at 10:03 am

Bully sticks all around! You must buy them by the case, like we do. And, I absolutely cannot imagine how that window got smudged with 6 dog noses around your house.

  18. Khyra on September 21, 2009 at 9:09 am

Woo were SOOOOO khlose to nice weather! We had two of the nicest days – but then again, we had khlose to your rainfall amount LAST weekend!

  19. Three Dogs on September 21, 2009 at 8:15 am

That’s quite a bit of rain! I am not sure how the herd is so clean with that much rainfall. I will be discussing that with my own pack later today as they have previously convinced me that rain=muddy pups…. I will have to show them this evidence to the contrary! Also? I see no fur on the carpets nor window smudges… it must be a product of the camera 🙂

  20. Kira on September 21, 2009 at 7:30 am

Wooos! Bullysticks, we have a couple of issues with mine being stolen by a certain little border collie. Hmmm, maybe I will crate him! Mom says what fur on rugs? what smudges on windows? she does not see any of that!

  21. The OP Pack on September 21, 2009 at 6:44 am

We have not been able to enjoy the pleasure of bullysticks. We would also have to be crated. If Dakota were here, it would be for the same reason as you, but with TD, the problem would be his intense need to eat all treats on the newly cleaned white carpet:(

    Enjoy your sticks.

    Woos, the OP Pack
