Settling In

Many of you have asked how well Ruby is settling in to her new home with Tartok.  You know how it is when you are new – a lot of stress from figuring out the rules and boundaries, getting along with strangers, learning the best places, . . .

Oh, never mind.

P.S. – Human here.  This picture was taken Sunday night in my mother’s kitchen and she made a great comment (with a very big smile).  She said that a well designed kitchen is always laid out in a clear triangle for food preparation, but apparently no one ever took into account the zig zags needed to prepare food in a kitchen with two dogs sprawled out asleep.

It looks like Tartok and Ruby understand geometry because they are at perfect right angles to each other.

I love your kitchen rugs… I bet they’re good crumb cleaners too. No sweeping required.

Our dogs are not allowed in the kitchen, but they are experts in finding out the MOST inconvenient place to lie. If I need to go back and forth to the pantry, they manage to lie just in front of the pantry door. If I’m setting the table they lie between the cooking area and the table. Amazing how much space two dogs can occupy. So glad to see Ruby so settled and happy.

So you stuck with the name Ruby then? It seems like she has settled right in, which is so good!

That is WONDERFUL! We’re so glad that Ruby has settled in and found her place on the kitchen obstacle course. 🙂

Sounds like food preparation will just have to be relocated to the living room …

Boy, we sure hope things get better there, it is looking very bad:)

You have a very smart mother. But it is one good way to get some extra exercise in.

Looks like our kitchen, except even now, our dogs cuddle up to our Aga oven, that is constantly warm (it’s supposed to be, that’s how it works). Our weather has often been in the 40s and 50s recently so the days of lying directly on cold tile are over for our pups!

So glad that Ruby is settling in! She’s one lucky dog.

Count it as your step aerobics class…or…better yet…make them practice “down-stay” a little off to the side when preparing dinner! Wild Dingo is so mean…she never lets the crew under foot when working with sharp or hot objects in the kitchen. oh, ok, occassionally i forget the sibe sprawled out in front of the spice cabinet. She acts so surprised when i tell ask her to move. “I totally can’t believe you need to open THAT cabinet while I am comfortably watching you prepare delicious tastes…” sigh. One never wins the sibe argument.

PeeEssWoo: (I just love that btw, whoever started that, cracks me up whenever i see it): i’m envious you get to have waterbowl in the kitchen. Both the crew members of Wild Dingo are sloppy drinkers so water is outside the mudroom door! Note to self: next time I rescue a dog, make it pass the drinking test before any commitment.
