Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our great readers. As of yesterday’s mail, you had contributed $1,625 to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation as a part of the Second Annual Valentine’s Hearts for the Herd. We will add any additional checks that come in the mail and let you know in a few days the final official total.
Our top fundraiser, for the second year in a row, was Qannik with $349! Typhoon was trying to close the gap, but ended with a total of $314. As a former Sarge’s rescue dog himself, the Q-Tip is especially honored with how much money you contributed in his name!

And Frankie received the most Valentine’s cards with 61 of the 238 cards (Typhoon again a runner up with 49). Frankie Suave is thrilled with the recognition.

And now for the reader prize – a gift basket from Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery. The bakery is on main street in Waynesville, NC, but they ship everywhere (and we are highly partial to the pumpkin bites, which might have been used in securing the pictures you see above). Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery is a huge supporter of animal causes, so click on their link and order some of their specially made treats!
To select our winner, we put all 238 cards received and let Frankie pick his favorite card. This year’s winner is none other than the Kryschtal family of Kansas (which means Cammie and Maggie!). We will get the basket in the mail to them right away!
Thanks to all of our readers for the support to Sarge’s and all of the Valentine’s cards. We have so much fun running this contest and we know Sarge’s will use the money raised to take care of homeless animals!
