Blowing in the Wind

Rusty 1

In case you were wondering . . .

Rusty 2

Rusty is blowing coat and looking quite shaggy.

Rusty 3

The hu-dad would like to point out that there is one good thing about coat blowing season.

Fur

That also means that it is Sibe Fur Plucking season.

Fur

The fur, my friend, is blowing in the wind. The fur is blowing in the wind.

Our thoughts today are with our friend KB who received the devastating news yesterday that the cancer in her canine pal, K, has not been slowed, but has spread to her lungs.  Our thoughts are with both of them, R, and the Runner.  Does us a favor and let her know of all of the Pillars of Strength out in the blogging world by leaving a message at her blog.

One of the great things about dog blogging are all of the wonderful friends you meet from around the world, like KB and K of Romping and Rolling in the Rockies.  One way to meet other dog bloggers is to participate in a blog hop.  You can list your website, for sure, but the best way to meet others is to click on the links below and go visit some blogs you have never seen before.  Happy Blog Hop!

Mom is breaking out in that “When It’s Sibe-Plucking Time in Kansas” song. Only she’s changing the “Kansas” to “Carolina”. Something tells me she made that song up ….
    Play bows,
    Zim
PS: We’re really sorry to hear about KB; we will leave a message!

Hey Herd, Jet here. Visited and Posted a comment over at the site you requested. We know how much it meant when the pet community wished us well during Koko’s sick time and after she crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

We never heard the term coat blowing before. Is that the same as shedding???

    • D.K. Wall on March 17, 2012 at 8:53 pm

Yes, coat blowing is the same as shedding – only much, much, much more intense. Nordic breed dogs have a thick undercoat that keeps them warm (the outer coat, the one you see, is all about repelling water). That thick undercoats drops twice a year in an amazing dropping of hair – thus blowing coat.

I still can’t believe you’re not selling felted Rusty replicas made from that floof! It would make a killing!

I am so heart sick over KB’s news.

I know about that “blowin’ in the wind” thing. A friend suggested I bury the fur brushed from my coat to help fertilize the plants. Have you tried that? Does it work?

BOL – you could leave a trail to find your way home!

I love fur pluckin’ season! With our unusually high temps this “winter” – 30 – 40 degrees above normal – I wish my kids would start blowing their coats. I already had the pool out. My wooly Gibson is not happy.

We are joining you in prayers and thoughts for K. Such heartbreaking news. K is strong and a fighter and we are all standing right there with her hoping and praying.

That`s a lot of fur!! Our thoughts too are with K and KB. Happy Patty’s Day!

Ha-roo roo roo! Bet woo could knit yourselves another member or two with all the Sibe fur from the Herd!

Does Hudad have a Sibe fur sweater, hat, mittens, and socks yet?
