Kodiak is right; the blueberries are not quite ready for picking, but they will be soon. And long time readers know how much the dogs like hiking and picking berries on the way. The amazing part is that the dogs check the same bushes regardless of how seldom we hike a particular trail and regardless of the season. They know where the good berry treats are grown.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
Yum, I like blueberries! If you guys find any watermelon bushes while you’re out hiking, would you mail me one? I LOVE watermelon!
Thanks.
Luv,
Dave
You know how the Luke loves your trail treat posts! I do, too… but I’d like to help you with your spell check. Make that…
BLEUBERRY!
with love from the Bleu (and also the Reufus, of course)
Sounds like a husky. When I’m walking down a seldom-walked street in another neighborhood, I will remember the exact house where I once spotted a cat sitting on the walkway long ago, and I will turn my head at the house and look for it again.
Like huskies are stupid or something… (we roll our eyes in agreement)…
they’re scary smart…
Yumm..Blueberries! Blueberry khookies sounds nice!
Cheers,
Maxx
yumm, best keep an eye on those so someone doesn’t beat you to them!
Why does Mom never take us on cool hikes like that? *sigh* As for the Chuck-it usage? Mom was a little mystified as to why she didn’t get to use it; she thinks it’s because we don’t bring the ball right back to the thrower – we usually drop it 10-20 feet away, and we’re thinking Dad didn’t want to be the ‘fetcher’. Dad seems to think the throwing of tennis balls is his domain. At least he gets it out there! 🙂

Ooooh, I can’t wait for ripe berries on the bushes!!!! Our dogs don’t start checking until the berries are out (which isn’t until August)… Wild blueberres – how I wish that we had them here!
Pretty amazing that they remember where the bushes are. But the Herd will have to wait a bit longer.
That is so neat that they know how to pick their own blueberries. 🙂
Mmmm….blueberries! We are jealous!! We have black berries and honeysuckles here.
Well of course. And why wouldn’t they remember?
Another reason to envy you! No blueberry bushes for us to investigate on our hikes. I have a feeling that those blueberries won’t take too much longer!
Ciara and Thunder just had their blueberry fix of the morning. Dad has blueberries in his cereal everyday and he shares them. Phantom, of course, doesn’t like them. We would love to have some bushes here that we could just get our fix from without having to wait for breakfast.
Have a great Sunday.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
I have two blueberry bushes in my front yard. It will be a trick to see if Honey shares any with me when they ripen.
Dogs have great taste, don’t they?
Blueberries are furry yummy!
Mom’s dinner from Wendy’s was a salad with strawberries and blueberries and almoonds and khat – ummm I mean chikhken –
Happy Hiking Sunday!

Khyra
PeeEssWoo: Plus, Blueberry is a furry nice furiend!
Oh wow, more proof you pups live in Heaven. Man. Do you let the hu-dad collect any for himself?
How fun! We would never get Sam moving if he found bushes he could munch on! He’d want us to leave him right there and just collect him on the way back!
