That Doggy in the Window

Cheoah sat and stared out the back door for a long time.

Despite the pleading looks, we decided she was staying inside with the rest of us.

No, we do not really know what was outside that had her interest.  However, we just decided that she was a little too interested in whatever was outside.  (P.S. – Sorry about the picture quality.  Taken at night, from across the den, without a flash.  Not exactly ideal photography settings.)

OK, I think I get it. Ruby is an alternate name for Cheoah?

Grins, nope. Ruby is my mother’s dog (along with Tartok).

That is kind of the look I give my yard as I sit and stare –

Mom always wonders why I’m looking at – I’m not telling!

Gee, when we look like that, Mom sends us out first as the scouting party (and hopes that we don’t come back with a moose….)!

We have a cat romance going on outside under the front porch so, um, we feel your pain! Morgan has offered to act as a chaperone, but we have declined so far.

Is a squirrel, a bird, another dog? Do tell!

Mom says hudad made a good decision. That’s not what we say, but who ever listens to us about these sorts of things?

The photos may be a little dark but they certainly told the story! Poor baby, trapped inside while something VERY interesting is waiting just outside the door.

I think that is a good call. Usually when they are super interested it leads to trouble.

Might be a huge lion out there!!

Who says dogs can’t talk? This is a clearer message than words can convey.

Oh yes, the Momster knows that feeling very well. This week it has been the worry over the scent that wafts through the air as she opens the door to the deck at 4:45 a.m. and hopes that black and white critter isn’t visiting our domain.

Your photo reminds me of a joke I heard recently about a man whose wife kept standing by the window, looking through it. It started to rain, then it started to snow–still, the woman stayed by the window, staring through it. The man wondered why his wife kept standing there. Finally, he opened the door and let her in.

How are you supposed to protect your peoples from crazy axe murderes and stuff if they just ignore your pleas?? Gah! Good try though…kudos!

If I could hear what a dog hears,
If I could smell what a dog smells,
If I could could take one moment at a time (the way a dog does)
…how much more knowledgable I would be!

Cheoah – You should try some drastic measures to get let outside, like start lifting your leg like you’re going to pee on something valuable, like speakers, or guests, or well anything of value to the humans. That usually causes them to freak out and put me outside for a bit. Good luck!

prolly the coyote who sang with Kiska the other night. Cheoah’s like, let me out so I can show ’em who the REAL singer is in this pack! woo!

Window gazing, I have a couple that love to do that.

I would have at least taken you for a walk.

  21. Stumpy and cyndi on February 16, 2011 at 8:46 am

That looks like a familiar pose! Sorry, Cheoah. the trick is acting like you don’t want to go out!

    Happy tails!

Drats Cheesewhiz…..can’t believe that face didn’t work on the humans to let you out!

Cheesewhiz was probably protecting you against a big invader!

The other night, R was obsessed with serving as our guard dog, staring out our doors and barking intermittently. It was one of those -30 deg nights. I discovered that a coyote had slept right up against the house over night from his dug bed and the tracks. So, R knew something that we didn’t (although we didn’t really need protection 🙂

Humans always like to rain on our parade, don’t they. Sigh.
