Ok, ok, it is not almost spring. We have quite a ways to go yet before we are out of winter, but Saturday sure felt wonderful. Sure, the humans enjoyed it, but even we had fun running around and stretching our legs. And riding around in the Jeep with the windows out!
We got up to 51F (10C) Saturday at the house. Considering we barely saw above freezing temperatures for most of January, that felt like a tropical paradise. We went down to Asheville and they had a high of 62F (16C). To give you an idea of how crazy that is, Asheville has had exactly five days with temperatures above 50F (10C) since December 1. They are over 2000 feet (610m) lower in elevation than us, so you can imagine what our weather is like. We haven’t seen 50F since well before Thanksgiving and got our first snowfall on November 5 (later than normal, for the record).
The only problem is that our snow is melting. Nothing is more depressing than melting snow (though the humans are smiling for some weird reason).
Have no fear, pups, we are promised more before the winter is over. After all, our ski resort closed on April 11 last year – so a lot of winter is still to come! The humans may not agree with us, but cross your paws for more snow. Lots and lots of more snow.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
Mine has turned into a lovely soft smooshie snow!
I think Cheesewhiz will approve of Mom’s shotgun passenger Taylor’s snow moves – they are in the video from Harrisburg!
We’ve got ‘weather’ in the forekhast for late Monday and into Tuesday – sounds like some of each type save fur lokhusts!

Every paw is crossed here! We understand the love of snow, and even the need for it. We’re getting a little scared here by the lack of snow – it could be a horrendous fire season if something extreme doesn’t happen. The last time we remember such a dry winter, we got 6′ of snow in 36 hrs in late March – it brought us up to normal moisture levels in one fell swoop. Maybe again?
We hope your snow arrives soon.
It looks beautiful there, with or without snow 🙂
You all would just pass out with the weather we’re having this week!
After a couple horrible days of 50-degree temps, we’re now COLD again and are expecting 8-12 inches of snow. Ahhhhh… much better! My really cool snow forts are at dangerously low levels!
Play bows,
Zim
Here in the Peace Country of Northern British Columbia, Canada, we had “almost spring” for about ten days, too. From the beginning of Jan. to the 17th, we were in a “deep freeze” with temperatures down to -37C (-35F), then we had a Chinook that got stalled here, and our 30″ of snow really disappeared too, with temps up to +8C (48F). That lasted ’til yesterday (Jan 29th) when winter returned, with an overnight temp. last night of -34C (-29F), and at 11:00 a.m. Sunday (today), is presently -24C (-11F) No, winter is far from over in the Peace Country
It looks beautiful there, even with the snow melt. Mom would be slippin’ and slidin’ all over that ice! We’re 52 and rainey today. We like rain because it makes our creek bigger!!

10C is a tropical paradise for you… and that is very cold for us!
I know you will get more snow to enjoy!
Happy Sunday!
Kisses and hugs

Fifty one degrees sounds like a heatwave! We were excited just to get to thirty four yesterday! We’ll be happy to box up all our snow and send it to you!
We will send our wishes for snow for you, but we keep our snow in the mountains and just visit it from time to time.
I hope that melt doesn’t make it dangerously icy!

That’s a lot of snow melt! Paws crossed for more of that white stuff for you!!
Do you guys ever have any flooding issues with the snow melting to fast?
Paws crossed…. thinking snow for woo!

Wooo the herd needs to get like Rusty and start saving souvenirs of every walk to put in the freezer, then when the outside snow is gone you can get it out the freezer and have some more fun time 🙂
I’m with Wild Dingo and yeppers I can’t even think about green yet.. they keep predicting storms every week. We have walls of snow here. Do you still walk the trails- do they get groomed or do you just follow the roads now?

All of our snow’s already gone! But we might have it replaced soon, according the weather forecast…
i don’t know. that still looks like a lot of snow to me!
That was a very warmth day yesterday.
As you wish, we will crossed all our paws and fingers that you have more snow to come! I feel sorry for your humans at the same time though!
With or without a ton of snow, your home is still beautiful! My hu-mans are happy when the snow falls but after a while, things change! There is more and more talk of a far away place called Florida!
Drools and licks,

70° yesterday here in Denver! But tell the herd not to worry, sounds like more snow across the country early next week. (Although we hear that even some of the dogs on the east coast have just about had it with this winter already!)
Hey, it was 60 degrees F here Saturday, too! Windy and blowing sand on the mesa–like a scene from Lawrence of Arabia (who lived in Santa Fe for awhile)! Check out the neat walking belt dad is wearing! Thanks for the tip, we got him one for a surprise, “we need more walks” gift!
