After a long winter of too little snow, we finally received a reasonable snow yesterday. Of course, we had to provide a professional working dog response.
The snow started falling Monday evening and continued to fall throughout the day Tuesday. This is the sort of snow that we have expect to have on a regular basis throughout the winter, though only disappointment has fallen this year.
The important thing is to act like we have been here before, like the nordic working dogs we all are. And most of us did so.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldnât have been much worse.
I love to see their joy in running, and especially love seeing it when they enjoy snow!
Finally! A measurable snowfall that might last for more than a couple hours!!! It’s a good thing you’re all such hard-working Nordic working dogs or else you might just want to play in it all day!! Right Landon??
How is “the older” Pack? Have not seen Q tip and Security queen lately. Did the enjoy the snow?
Qannik has always been a cold weather fan. This morning’s 6Âș temperature led to a long discussion where Hu-Dad told him to come inside and Qannik said, “Nope.”
Kiska, being the most serious of dogs, conducted her morning patrol like she does ever single day and asked for breakfast. Kiska’s motto, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
After months follow this blog, I still couldn’t make a difference between Typhoon and Frankie when seen in another angle. How do you differentiate them?
Great question!
In movement, they are easy to distinguish. Frankie Suave glides from spot to spot. Typhoon bounces.
And their faces are different – Typhoon must thinner with a longer nose, not to mention those bi-eyes (one blue one brown).
From the back or side, it is more difficult. Frankie is thicker (about ten pounds), but otherwise they are quite similar.
Ooh so that how it is XD. They glide and jump :O. It must be interesting to see Typhoon, Frankie and Landon from the backside, black and white đ (Say hi to Qannik)
Frankie has beautiful brown eyes! ( love Frankie) Ty has a brown eye and a blue eye. Ty is smaller and thinner. I agree sometimes it’s hard to tell unless they are side by side. That’s why we need Hu-Dad!
