Hu-Dad visited our cousins of The Herd Annex, Hu-Grandmom’s dogs Ruby and Tartok, and noticed they have sleeping disorders like we do.
We have long joked (suspected) that Ruby and Cheoah are sisters because of so many similarities. Ruby’s incredible skill of sleeping directly in the path of walking humans is a terrific example. Hu-Dad can trip over Cheoah two or three times while preparing dinner and Ruby claims a similar sleeping spot in the Herd Annex’s kitchen. This photograph was taken shortly after Hu-Dad nearly became a victim of the trip hazard.
Tartok has the same sleeping issue that Qannik has. We could spend a few minutes describing it . . . or we can just show you.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
This disorder is not confined to Sibes as a certain Standard Poodle I know quite well has exactly the same disorder. I have to be extremely careful getting out of bed so that I don’t squash her dead and fall flat on my face. This disorder often is accompanied by deafness after she beats us to bed and is quite comfortable in exactly the middle and is requested to “MOVE OVER!”
my 13 y.o. bullet has the same sleeping disorder.
Mom sez: We find Ebby doing the same thing as Tartok, and the conclusion we’ve come to is that she finds sleeping on her bed, she gets too warm, prefers the cooler floor, and of course, right in front of the patio door is even cooler. Maybe that’s Tartok’s problem as well.
Ah yes, Our Teton half pack do the same. When people come over they are always amazed that our huskies lay in doorways or right at your feet and don’t flinch at all when they know you are trying to maneuver around or over them. And if you accidentally bump one they lift only their head to see what on earth is the matter with you that you can’t step all the way over them!! One of the wonderful wacky things to love about them! Happy to see mine aren’t the only ones with this sleeping disorder. Ha ha!
Cool tile during the day and under the bed (the cave,) at night is our m.o. The cave is lined with stuffed animal toys that look as new as the day we bought them.
Obviously the bed is in the wrong spot! The poor doggie runs out of energy before getting to it all the time!!! 🙂
LMAO!
???????? We’ve had one or both of those sleeping disorders over the years. I imagine Ruby and Cheoah are saying “If you all would watch where you’re walking I wouldn’t have so much interrupted sleep!” ????????
