We have already shared with you the joy of having our big dog neighbors back at Cataloochee Ranch next door, and Natasha had her first face to face with the big dogs this season.
Queen Natasha was riding solo in the Jeep, headed down to the valley for her weekly laser treatment for arthritis. As we have mentioned before, we have to drive through the center of the ranch in order to get off of the mountain, so that often means driving through the herd of big dogs. Queen Natasha has always been particularly enamored with them, so she was thrilled when one wanted to say hello.
To answer an oft-asked question, no, we do not get to run with the big dogs. We think part of being good neighbors is respecting each others turf. So when they ride by our house, they do not come inside Sibe Quentin. And when we ride through their field, we stay inside the Jeep. We do share a lot of hiking trails, but we always give each other lots of rooms so no one gets spooked.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
Had a foster once who was adopted by a Lady who lived on an island of the GA coast – the foster liked to swim with the finned dogs – dolphins – who came in close to shore to swim with her. Very social, these Siberians are!!!
Still it is nice to stop and chat for a moment or two. Plus they smell SO good!
I sometimes walk my boy (and friends – can’t let a husky off-leash without other dogs that come back when called, as he’ll eventually follow them back to us) at a wilderness area that also has riding stables, and Eddie always wants to go out to the paddocks to say hello. He’s not always sure what he thinks of the bigger horses, but there are typically a few curious ones (a mule, a mini-mule, and another mini-horse) that will stick their heads through the fences so that sniffs and kisses can be exchanged.
Aww I’m so glad Queen Natasha was able to have a meet ‘n greet with one of the ‘big dogs’! I hope it will be a lasting friendship!
