Hu-Dad has been trying new training treats for us. Based on the reaction of a couple of members of The Herd, we have a spontaneous product endorsement.
Hu-Dad is very picky about what we are allowed to eat, so he is always scanning product labels and telling us things we can’t have. But we are huge fans of the liver treats that we get at the vet’s office, so he asked what they were. As it turns out they are just freeze-dried liver – no other products added.
So Hu-Dad ordered some and we have been sampling them (interpretation, Hu-Dad offers us a treat when we are distracted by another dog walking by our campsite so that we “be-have”). So far, they are receiving the famous four-paws up endorsement – though Typhoon was trying to get some extra treats without actually doing anything.
Anyway, you can order Stewart Freeze Dried Liver Treats here (and, yes, we earn a small amount of treat money if you order from that link). And we have to disclose that Typhoon was paid for his endorsement – via one of the liver treats!

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
Are they hard or soft? I have used ‘liver thins’ which I think is just dried liver (looks like bark) purchased by my clients and they are very very hard so I find them very difficult to use for training (hard to break and takes too long for dog to crunch up).
They are very dry which meant the humans thought they would hold no interest. But we canines know how great they smell and taste.
The trainer that trained both Chloe and Leena also loved to use these when she could. Both of my girls went absolutely nuts over these things. When they were being picky about any other treat or even in Siberian Deafness, they would listen for these things.
Typhoon certainly earned his treats. He is as adorable as always. I especially love the second photo. I will look into them for Tokyo. Are they very expensive?
We did not think they were very expensive by buying the large “bucket” of treats.
I have used these for years. Not sure which is more popular, these, or the stinky salmon treats from Alaska. Yes, certainly keep the container out of the reach of noses or you will not have it long. In fact, they are desired so well that I even take each square and cut it in two .. or four if I am stingy. Even a small piece is worth working for.
I have been using these for dog training for years, I have never seen a dog to refuse one. The best thing is they’re single ingredient treats no extra ingredients to cause possible allergic reactions.
Yes, that is what the Hu-Dad liked about them.
