Best Part of Camping

We get asked all of the time what is the best part of camping. Is it traveling to new places in the RV? Long hikes on new trails? Meeting other campers?

Cheoah snoozing - best part of camping

Cheoah snoozing in the campsite.

Ok, we have to admit it – the best part might just be lazy afternoons in the campsite taking some nap time. Camp grounds are usually busy in the evening as people cook-out, but the middle of the day tends to be quiet and relaxed.

Q struggling hard.

Q struggling hard to stay awake.

Yesterday afternoon was like so many others – stretched out in the shade of the trees and catching up on some nap time.

Typhoon napping with gusto

Typhoon even naps with gusto. (Notice the upside down water bowl – again).

I’m guessing some serious hiking preceded this activity to wear the Huskies out.

Heat. Temperatures were in the high 80’s to low 90’s. Even though the Nashville people we were with were referring to it as “cooler” and “dryer” weather, we thought we were vacationing in a sauna. Our walks were restricted to twice a day – morning and evening – when the temperatures were only slightly above the highest temperatures we ever see at home.
