It’s Coming

IMG_4327

Notice just a little bit of color among all of the green?

IMG_4344

Some yellows and reds creeping in?

IMG_4347

The leaves curling and yellowing from the cool mornings?

IMG_4349

The bright red berries from the Mountain Ash?

We are not really sure when it started, but as we have started looking around, we have noticed the first hints of color at the higher elevations.  The cooler air has been settling in each evening, the days are getting shorter, and we can smell fall coming quickly.  We love this time of year!

We’ve seen some of the leaves falling off the apple tree in the back yard, so you must be right! Winter is almost here.

Its the only thing i miss about the east coast: fall. Mother nature makes “dying” bittersweet by making it so beautiful. sigh. we’ll be visiting east coast end of October: Annapolis and Connecticut! woo woo!

It’s just the opposite for me! The days are getting a bit longer and warmer, and the trees are growing their leaves again.

We sure wish we got color here. Everything turns brown and dies..

Mom is all bummed that she is going to miss the best of the fall flame here (which will likely happen this week – the aspens – which are the last to go – are just barely turning yellow) because she is going to visit your neck of the woods (relatively speaking… I know Chapel Hill isn’t exactly next door, or anything…). Enjoy fall!

Oops. Guess we really wanted to make our point! Sorry ’bout all those reposts! We got a little heavy on the paw right when our internet connection went haywire! Delete the duplicates, if you’d like!

Wow! You guys are awesome! Wanna come play with us in the snow in the Colorado mountains? It’d be a blast!

Thanks so much for stopping by our blog and recognizing the importance of spreading the word and lending the support regarding puppy mills and puppy mills dogs. We know your comment will make Teddy’s RescueAngelCheryl feel better. It had to have been hard to see one that had been so injured from his ten year experience leave her loving care. You guys “get it”. We can tell.

    Thank you.

Fall was always my favorite time of year back east, too. But out here in SoCal when we see orange and red in the fall it’s usually because something is burning.

    I know! I know! Isn’t it GRRRRREAT!

Mom realises we’ll be taking tree pikhs to post instead of flower shots…

Unfurtunately fur us, we’ve had a good bit of leaf droppage already due to the dry khonditions prior to last weekend’s rain festival…

    Yay fall! Boo fall allergies!

  14. The OP Pack on September 17, 2009 at 9:44 am

Ah yes, the cool early morning and evening air – why they won’t come back in in the morning and why they go nuts with zoomies at night!!! But the colors make it so worth it all.

Your Sibes must love the cooler air. Even our labs do!

It borrowed your idea (that you mentioned a little while back), and I’m taking a photo of the same trail through an aspen grove everyday. It’ll be fun to put all the photos together at the end of fall and see the daily progression.

I swear our dogs can smell the cooler air from the north: it adds bounce to their steps, increases their appetites, and generally raises the level of zany behavior. Ah, autumn with Siberians–a hint of the insanity to come once the snowflakes start to fall!
