Frankie – Valentine’s Hearts for the Herd

All week long, we have been profiling each member of The Herd and are now down to last year’s recipients of the most Valentine’s – 53 – Frankie! He raised $296 for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation (who saved 1,231 dogs and cats in 2014 – see this article for details).

To enter the Second Annual Valentine’s Hearts for the Herd, all you have to do is mail a Valentine’s to your favorite member of The Herd (To: Dog’s Name, c/o The Thundering Herd, PO Box 1835, Maggie Valley, NC  28751-1835). Totally optional, but you may include a check payable to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation as a donation if you wish.

One lucky reader will be selected from all of the Valentine’s mailed to win a beautiful gift basket from Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery! The basket last year was overflowing with awesome treats, chews and toys. We get our own freshly baked Pumpkin Treats from them – which they will gladly ship to wherever you are.

You can find the other profiles at these links – CheoahNatashaQannikKiska and Typhoon. So let’s move on to Frankie’s profile so that you can begin mailing your Valentine’s.

Frankie

Look deep into these brown eyes.

Frankie Suave is a big, muscular, calm, brown-eyed boy. Well-mannered and very even tempered. Joe Cool of The Herd.

Really. He comes when he is called. Every single time. Trust us when we say that that is not a Siberian Husky trait.

picnic table

Sentry duty from the picnic table.

Sunny days find Frankie sprawled on his picnic table (and, yes, he does consider it his) where he can monitor all passing wildlife.

And, despite all of Typhoon’s antics, Frankie just quietly leads the Little Prince around Chez Herd.

morning sunshine

The brothers enjoying the morning sunshine.

Ok, sure, everyone has a weakness or two. Thunder is his Achilles Heel. He is quite clear that the sky should never, ever make noise and there is simply no purpose in that. But he even makes wearing a Thundershirt look cool.

So, in his own quiet way, Frankie received the most Valentine’s last year. Let’s see if he does it two years in a row.

Wow, I am impressed that Frankie comes every time when called! I wish my Cierra was like that. She definitely has the Siberian trait of turning her head to look at you then proceed to look the other way! She comes when called about 85 % of the time! lol. I have enjoyed reading all the profiles this week of the Herd! Valentines coming soon!

Is Frankie the Hu-Dad has referred to “Velcro Boy” once or twice (or several times) ? Thx.
P.S. Our cards are in the mail!

Yes, Frankie is the Hu-dad’s velcro dog. Hu-dad was trying to read this morning with Frankie draped across his lap.
