A simple misunderstanding by Roscoe about whose treat and where it was going led to a disaster we can only call Roscoe goes Boom.
When we pass other dogs during our walks, we receive treats for behaving well. Roscoe struggles the most not to react to strange canines, so he works the hardest for his treat. He gets very excited, which led to today’s oops moment.
Hu-Dad does many things by seniority. For example, our meals are served from oldest member to youngest. That means Frankie Suave is first and poor Roscoe is last. Tough being the youngest.
Treats are delivered the same way.
So we passed a canine we didn’t know and everyone behaved. Roscoe knows the rules and pestered the Hu-Dad to pay up. Hu-Dad told everyone to gather around and they did. Frankie got his treat, no problem, despite Roscoe watching every second of it. He, to his credit, waited patiently though his butt might have been bouncing in excitement on the ground.
When it came time for Landon to get his treat, Hu-Dad reached out with it. Landon, unfortunately, was directly behind Roscoe, so Hu-Dad had to stretch his hand directly over Roscoe. Our poor boy followed the treat with his eyes, then his head, neck, and finally his whole body. He rose up off his front feet, balanced on his butt, and did his best to maintain composure. Once the treat passed over him, however, his head followed, he leaned backward, and lost his balance.
Roscoe wobbles. Roscoe falls down. Backward into Landon who is waiting on his treat. Just think dominoes crashing to the ground and you have the image.
Hu-Dad, after recovering from an embarrassing laughing fit, provided the promised treats.

Hurricane Hugo Memories
September 21, 2024
Thirty-five years ago, a massive storm hammered our region and left a path of destruction, leaving us with Hurricane Hugo memories.
Poor kid took his spot in the queue too seriously.
Thanks for the morning laugh. So easy to picture that happening.
I laughed hust picturing in my mind!
I’m sure Frankie was mortified watching that unfold! Also turning his head to hide his smile.
That must have been TOO funny Hu-Dad. I just KNOW Roscoe P was TRYING his best to behave and wait for his treat BUT it didn’t work! I’m so glad all got their promised treats!!
