Brave Dogs (Mostly)

We Siberian Huskies are sledding dogs, accustomed to resolving obstacles on the trail, so we faced yesterday’s problem as brave dogs (mostly).

Hu-Dad! We have a problem!

Our ancestors were pulling sleds across the tundra of Siberia, dealing with harsh weather and constant danger. When we came across a fallen tree blocking our trail, the genetic material kicked into gear and we faced the obstacle as the brave dogs that we are. Well, three out of four of us did. Guess who balked?

Our fearless leader, Frankie Suave, didn’t hesitate to clear the obstacle. Landon, with the springs in his feet that earned him his nickname, soon Boom Boomed over the log and joined his big brother.

So that leaves our Little Prince and his bestest brother Roscoe P. Which one leapt into action and which one froze?

I don't think so.
I don’t think so

His Royal Highness Little Prince Typhoon Phooey may prefer the world bend to his every desire, but he recalled his younger days of an eight-foot vertical leap (seriously – we have photos of him leaping to the top of the kitchen door) and leapt over. Roscoe P., however, was quite clear the tree was scary.

It smells like a tree, but why is it sideways?

Don’t worry, though, after much coaxing (and not a few treats), he decided maybe he could do what his siblings did. Seconds later, he was with his pals and bragging about how he wasn’t scared at all.

For the record, Hu-Dad pointed out the tree was lower than the couch we all jump on daily, but that’s different.

No matter how well we think we know our dogs, they never fail to surprise us. I have one that is scared to jump over a storm drain that goes across the road. That is flat. And even with the street. She just needs to step over. You would think I was asking her to jump the Hoover Dam.
