Early Christmas Present

What do you get a Herd of Siberian Huskies who have everything? You get them the bestest thing in the whole wide world – a pile of dirt!

You shouldn't have, Hu-Dad. You really, really shouldn't have. - early Christmas present
You shouldn’t have, Hu-Dad. You really, really shouldn’t have.

Hu-Dad would describe our Christmas present as a backyard oasis with an outdoor fireplace and a pavilion. By the spring, it might look like that. For now, though, the work crews have leveled out the backyard in preparation and created a dirt mountain.

My very own dirt mountain.
I, Landon L. Bandon, claim this mountain as my own
I, Landon L. Bandon, claim this mountain as my own with a little liquid Boom Boom

All that dirt came from somewhere, and that has created the flattest, muddiest race track that is already being well used.

You can really dig your paws deep into this dirt.
You can really dig your paws deep into this dirt.

In case you think this is great, wait until it starts raining—which it will do today! Yes, today! Probably while you are reading this blog, rain will be falling. Imagine the fun!

So much red mud!
So much red mud!

And not just a big field of dirt. Oh, no, that wouldn’t be enough fun. What we really need are some deep holes to catch the water and let it pool. Post holes for the foundation footers would be perfect! Wouldn’t that be neat?

Hello? Hello? Hello?
Hello? Hello? Hello?

Now you might think the entire family is excited about this particular project, but one member of The Herd is questioning Hu-Dad’s logic (as he suspects many of you might be):

Really, Hu-Dad, you shouldn't have.
Really, Hu-Dad, you shouldn’t have.

P.S. – For some odd reason, a huge pile of old towels have been stacked by the back door. Some nonsense about the mud is supposed to remain outside. Ha!

Oh my dog heaven!!! Good luck with the red clay dirt! We have to use a water dish to dip paws in just to get them clean!! Of course I am sure Hu-Dad has something fancy to clean paws!!!

Lol! Videos are requested. That red clay dirt will be exceptionally slippery and slidey under feety feets on zoomie turns after a good rain.

Mud Freckles

January 10, 2009 |

Lots of snow, lots of rain, muddy roads, four-wheel drive, and an open jeep window.  This is when a dog should not hold their head out of the window, as demonstrated by Natasha and Kodiak as they show off their Mud Freckles.
