What do you get a Herd of Siberian Huskies who have everything? You get them the bestest thing in the whole wide world – a pile of dirt!
Hu-Dad would describe our Christmas present as a backyard oasis with an outdoor fireplace and a pavilion. By the spring, it might look like that. For now, though, the work crews have leveled out the backyard in preparation and created a dirt mountain.
All that dirt came from somewhere, and that has created the flattest, muddiest race track that is already being well used.
In case you think this is great, wait until it starts raining—which it will do today! Yes, today! Probably while you are reading this blog, rain will be falling. Imagine the fun!
And not just a big field of dirt. Oh, no, that wouldn’t be enough fun. What we really need are some deep holes to catch the water and let it pool. Post holes for the foundation footers would be perfect! Wouldn’t that be neat?
Now you might think the entire family is excited about this particular project, but one member of The Herd is questioning Hu-Dad’s logic (as he suspects many of you might be):
P.S. – For some odd reason, a huge pile of old towels have been stacked by the back door. Some nonsense about the mud is supposed to remain outside. Ha!

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.

Oh hu-dad, you shouldn’t have. What a wonderful present for The Herd. And when some snow mixes in … pure delight for these boys. I am looking forward to mud-slimed dog photos.
Oh my dog heaven!!! Good luck with the red clay dirt! We have to use a water dish to dip paws in just to get them clean!! Of course I am sure Hu-Dad has something fancy to clean paws!!!
Doggies and dirt. What fun!
