Typhoon’s Hairy Situation

Many readers have commented on His Highness Little Prince Typhoon Phooey’s hairy situation, but he is prepared to issue a strong denial.

Typhoon's hairy situation.
Typhoon’s hairy situation.

Quite a few of you have pointed out Typhoon’s exploding undercoat and his need for a good grooming. Just one thing stands in the way of the Little Prince’s dropping fur and a brush.

Don't you even think of using a brush on me.
Don’t you even think of using a brush on me.

His Highness has many rules for the proper care and treatment of royalty…meaning him. Humans are not allowed to touch or nuzzle him at will and absolutely no snooter kisses are allowed (the Hu-Dad is quite guilty of violating that rule every day). But the most important rule is no brush is allowed in the same room. If he spots one, he runs and screams. Yes, screams. Like a banshee.

For those pluckers out there...STOP!
For those pluckers out there…STOP!

Omg plucking is so zen… we must

Kodi runs around all summer looking like the most unloved husky in Oregon due to his bountiful, body fluffs. He hates brushing and it’s getting worse as he ages. Sitka, on the other hand, never has a piece of fur out of place because he loves to be brushed. I was surprised to read about all of the huskys that dislike a brush but am somewhat relieved that Kodi isn’t an oddball.

Chumley will tolerate brushes for about 5 minutes then he is over it. Donโ€™t even mention the word bath

Hahaha! My Izzy Bear (the Akita) is also blowing her undercoat right now! I have to admit that I am a serial plucker… she is not amused by my attempts at plucking out those obvious floofs either!

I am lucky that Maddox LOVES to be combed – plucking not so much, but I do it anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am guessing a blower won’t work on him, either, huh.

Ruby says plucking, brushing and bathing are a big no-no around here. She is always a big wooly mess. Love her anyway.

Some huskies scream at the slightest provocation. Juno draws the attention of neighbors with nail clipping. I had to call one to assure them she wasn’t being tortured. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My husky runs as fast as she can to her safe place whenever you mention, show, or even think about bringing out a brush or nail trimmers. She doesn’t scream though. She saves that for the blow dryer.

Oh Typhoon-plucking is what I do-our boy is leaving tufts of hair EVERYWHERE! He is also NOT a fan of a brush although he doesn’t scream like a banshee as do you. The vacuum cleaner gets a really good workout and I bet Hu-Dad’s does too.
