Cheesewhiz Reluctance To Join Her Brothers

Our red-headed girl was enjoying the solitude of her yard when it was invaded by her rambunctious brothers resulting in a moment of Cheesewhiz reluctance.

Why are they in my yard?

Why are they in my yard?

The seniors have long enjoyed their quiet yard without the bouncing youngsters, but Cheoah still likes to share her yard when the younger set. Well, that may not be entirely true. She likes bossing them around, but she also enjoys long stretches of quiet when they all go inside to Hu-Dad’s study and she has the yard all to herself.

Retreating to her crate.

Retreating to her crate.

When they come out all bouncy and energetic, she retreats to the one place they will not go – her crate. Don’t worry, she will emerge as soon as they go back inside.

My own quiet spot.

My own quiet spot.

Cheoh what a wise Senior you are! You have the best of both worlds! The fact that you get to be boss is an added bonus!????

May I ask, since the dogs wear break away collars around the house, do they wear a different collar for their walks?

Glad to answer. We wear martingale collars. They hang on the hook with our leashes. Just a slip over our head and we are ready to walk. Since Martingale’s tighten if we pull (but don’t tighten so much to choke), we can’t get them back off our heads. Quick and easy.

Thanks for the information, that makes sense. Love your dogs, Rebel is also a red head, had a grey, a black and another red prior to him. They are great companions.

Good morning, instead of a comment I have a question. I see that she is wearing a collar like the one I have on Rebel. His is getting old and I have not been able to find one like it. I like the two rings, one for his tags and the other for the lead. It also tightens a little but is not a choke collar. Do you know where I can order one like that or the company name? I live in NY State, so if you purchased it locally for you I am out of luck. Thank you.
I love your photos and stories of the Herd. I was given my first dog when I was about 10, he was a Husky/spitz mix and my constant buddy for 15 years. After him, I have stuck with Siberians and Rebel is my fourth Siberian. I have had five dogs over 65 years. They are wonderful.

Glad to help, but the collars we wear are Break-A-Way collars so you wouldn’t want to attach a lead to only one of the rings.

We had an incident a number of years ago where one of the dogs almost choked to death because of a collar. Every since then, we only wear breakaways around the house.
