Vets, Lasers, Q-Tips and Cheese

Four of us were left home alone (and protesting at the unfairness quite loudly) while Hu-Dad went for an afternoon of vets, lasers, Q-Tips and Cheese.

Cheese waiting her turn.

Cheese waiting her turn.

Cheoah’s visit was simply for a laser treatment for arthritis in her spine. She receives treatments every couple of weeks and that gives her a great deal of flexibility without the need for any additional medicines – for now. Hu-Dad tries to convince her to minimize her wrestling of the boys, but she does love their attention.

Qannik was in for his semi-annual exam. His weight continues to hold steady (thanks to the green bean diet) which is good because he has some arthritis in three of four legs plus his spine. He also received an extensive laser treatment and we will continue his medication routine for comfort. Fortunately, Qannik still loves our daily walks, also a great treatment for aging joints.

Nothing cooler than a Q receiving a laser treatment.

A good vet visit all around!

Our vet uses both acupuncture and laser, alternating. We added green lip mussel powder to their food as well. It helped our cat with arthritis in a hip. His limping stopped. (I can just picture Q in the sidecar of a motorcycle with those goggles.)

Mom sez: Sure wish our vet here did laser treatments for canine arthritis. I talked to him about it about two years ago, and he said he was “planning it in future”, but I guess “future” isn’t here yet. Sure hope it helps both Qannik and Cheoah retain their mobility.

Ask him to refer you to someone for treatments. You can certainly retain your regular vet and use a specialist for treatments he doesn’t offer.

(While our vet does offer laser, she referred us to a pain specialist who worked with Natasha with some treatments our vet didn’t offer such as acupuncture and some massage treatments).

Oh Qannik, you look so cool in those goggles!! And Cheoah you look as beautiful as ever.
Glad the treatments help both of you. Stay well.

We have a senior suffering from arthritis too. We just started acupuncture, but it’s too soon to tell if it will help. I wish our vet did laser therapy.
