At Chez Herd, we strive to focus on the joys of a multi-dog household. Sometimes, we just have to acknowledge the not so good days.
At 13 years old, Queen Natasha still has many fun, enjoyable days. Recent examples include the zoomies that we posted about just a few days ago or the recent walk in the park with her protege, Typhoon.
But days like yesterday happen, too. Not much of an appetite, no desire to wander around Chez Herd. Those days, the Queen lays at Hu-Dad’s feet in the study and naps while he works.
Nothing specific medically is happening. We have no signs of reoccurrence of cancer or another torn tendon. The reality is simply that her body is aging and little can be done to change that.
For now our goal is simple – to celebrate every day we have, however many those may be.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
Aww, it’s so hard when they become seniors. You had the right attitude, just treasure every day while they are still with us. I’m so sorry for your loss.
If I was ever granted the 3 imaginary wishes, we all wish for, I know what one would be for sure. I would wish that our fur babies would not age so fast. I’ve loved and lost several dogs, and it never gets easier. So, rest when you need Queen Natasha, zoom around when you can. Just don’t let the pack forget who’s in charge! My fur pack is sending you love, hugs and sloppy kisses!
Chug the Bub ( our chubby Lab)
Siniy (see-knee) Princess Fluffy Bottom (her name is the Russian translation for “blue”. She’s got Husky clear blue eyes)
Bolt the Baby ( The youngest pack member, all Husky)
Radar the Protector (Our perky ears Shepherd)
You’ve ruled the Herd with an iron paw, Queen Natasha, and you deserve a day to just veg out and renew your energy. It happens to all of us as we get older, and you certainly deserve a day of rest as often as you want it! I know HuDad takes excellent care of you no matter whether it’s an energetic or a quiet day.
The Hemly Herd
Melody the Greyhound
Sebastian the Cocker Spaniel
As we age we like to nappy more too! Hugs and prayers to you and your
Family that you are blessed with many more days of under the desk napping
Long Live The Queen
The Walsh Herd
Sabo the German Shepherd
Jasmine the Lab
Delola the German Shepherd
Athena the English Mastiff
Harry and Zoe their human servants
*hugs the queen* Arthritis can do this easily. It does it to me all the time. Some days laying around napping is the only answer!
*hugs the queen*
Everyone needs days of rest, even more so if they have to rule the Herd like Queen Natasha!
