Summer Snowmaking

If our neighbors at Cataloochee Ski can make snow in the winter, we decided we should try our hand (er, paw) at summer snowmaking.

And, yes, that is fur. Lots and lots of fur. We are all dropping our winter coats and Hu-Dad was speeding things along yesterday with our Metro Air Force Commander.(yes. that is an Amazon Affiliate link). So much faster than brushing all of that dense undercoat. Five out of six Siberian Huskies at Chez Herd recommend it!

No way, no how.

No way, no how.

Hardly a shock that the Prince of Picky absolutely hates being brushed or plucked . . . and hates our dog dryer. He prefers dropping hair bit by bit.

Don't even think about removing my fluffy fur.

And in Hu-Dad’s weak attempt to make up for not creating a video this week, he is sharing a video we made last summer showing how our dryer works at removing excess furs!

To really make this work well – groomers (read “The Pros”) give a warm water bath, pile on (watered down a bit) conditioner, any kind, and use your blower against the grain, blow the hair the wrong way, ALL of the undercoat will come out. Repeat in 6 months.

Search for bird nests with your husky’s fur woven in, keep as a memorial, I have several, and a bird next in your Christmas Tree brings good Luck 🙂

And I still Love you Typhoon, fluffy bits and all!!

Thanks for the tip of blowing against the grain. Kodi and Nico are in for a surprise!

The birds in your area must love it!

Everytime I see him, all I want to do is pluck!

Keeli is much like the Prince… no way no how! When I take her into the self grooming place, the folks that don’t know huskies vocals give us weird looks when the blower gets turned on and Keeli starts protesting.

This is a familiar sight. Love those summer snow scenes….
