Green Bean Rebellion

We always seem to have at least one member of The Herd on a diet, but the current participant is having a green bean rebellion.

Why do I have green beans in my bowl?

Why do I have green beans in my bowl?

For those of you who don’t know, the green bean diet is the easiest way we know to help a dog lose weight. The program is simple. Reduce the amount of kibble by 1/3 or so and replace it with an equal quantity of unsalted green beans. The dog still feels full because of the green beans, but is consuming less calories.

And the program does work. Queen Natasha has lost two pounds in the last two weeks since going on the diet. With her continuing challenges from arthritis, we have decided with our vet to help Natasha lose a few pounds to reduce the amount of stress on her joints. Great plan except for the green bean rebellion.

Why is there a single green bean left in the bowl?

Why is there a single green bean left in the bowl?

Queen Natasha has decided to express her displeasure with the diet by leaving a single green bean in her bowl. Every single meal. At first, Hu-Dad thought it was a coincident, but since this has been happening meal after meal since the diet started, he is beginning to think this is yet another of Queen Natasha’s communications.

Hu-Dad says don’t let her fool you. She eats all of the green beans save one.

Well she is the Queen let me ask did you ask permission to make this change or bust thrust it upon her?? I mean being disgruntled is in her wheelhouse lol
But if she eats the rest your right it’s not texture it’s her giving you the paw. Lol

I love the way dog communicate, like walking in slow motion when asked to come in from a snow storm, versus the speed when they hear “walk or ride.” Natasha’s super smart and knows she can have the last word. Pretty cute.
