Unwilling Subject

Living in a house full of dogs, there are so many photo opportunities. Unfortunately, the camera is usually in another room and the opportunity is long gone before a camera can be focused. When good candid shots are not happening, Hu-dad will often try to coax us for a photo session, though he often runs into an unwilling subject.

calling

Why are you calling me into the yard?

Yesterday, we went walking in one of our favorite parks, rode with the Hu-dad while he ran some errands, and had lots of people give us ear scratches. There are no photos of that.

why not

And why weren’t you getting those photos, Hu-dad?

So when we arrived back home, Hu-dad decided to get us out in the yard and get some pictures. Except we were all tired from walking in our favorite park, running errands, and getting ear scratches. So we hung out on the porch while the Hu-dad ran around the back yard making noises and trying to get us to be photogenic.

dinner

Why don’t you put that camera down and fix our dinner?

Valentine’s Hearts for the Herd Update

Screen Shot 2015-01-25 at 4.22.16 PM

Cheoah has jumped out to an early lead as a fundraiser with $72, outpacing last year’s top fundraiser, Qannik! Frankie is putting the pressure on to repeat as the top Valentine recipient with 46 Valentine’s already in his box!

With nearly three weeks to go before Valentine’s Day, there is plenty of time for the rest of The Herd to catch up to the leaders . . . and plenty of time for you to enter the Valentine’s Hearts for the Herd contest. We will announce the winner on February 14, so your Valentine’s card must be received by February 13 in order to be eligible for our drawing – a gift basket from Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery!

Remember to mail your Valentine’s card(s) to your favorite member of The Herd (To: Dog’s Name, c/o The Thundering Herd, PO Box 1835, Maggie Valley, NC  28751-1835). If you wish, you may also include a donation made payable to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation (who saved 1,231 dogs and cats in 2014 – over 3 animals every single day of the year – see this article for details).

You can find the profiles of each dog at these links – CheoahNatashaQannikKiskaTyphoon and Frankie.

What? Natasha is lagging behind??? IMHO the best stories are about her, well okay, maybe Typhoon gets in more trouble, but this year SHE is my favorite and her valentine is in the mail. 🙂
