Red Rover, Red Rover

As long time followers know, we usually walk in teams – all 6 dogs at the same time, but a human with each of the three. The Junior Team consists of Cheoah, Frankie and Typhoon and the Senior Team members are Natasha, Kiska and Qannik. We do this for a variety of reasons, but mostly out of habit.

Yesterday, we went walking in Carrier Park, a city park in Asheville. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day after a week of cold, nasty winter weather. Great idea, apparently, because everyone else and their dogs were also walking in Carrier Park. There were lots of people, canines, bicyclists, joggers, a guy blowing a large animal horn (this is Asheville where someone playing a large animal horn would be consider commonplace), and even a guy riding a bicycle that was also an elliptical.

elliptical bike

This was not the elliptical bicycle we saw, but this will give you an idea of what we are talking about.

Ok, take a young dog who struggles with a short attention span (Squirrel!) and add all of this commotion and the result is a bouncy, hyper, crazed Typhoon. He needed the guidance of older, mature dogs – who wouldn’t put up with his antics. As the old children’s game goes, Red Rover, Red Rover, send Typhoon right over.

Q moved

Qannik moved over to the Juniors and walked with Cheoah and Frankie.

Typhoon

And Typhoon was being corralled by Natasha and Kiska, though he worked hard never to be in the middle.

focus

Amazing how much a young dog can focus when he is walking with the Queen and her Enforcer.

So much fun! Could you tell us about the leads/leashes you use?

I have a feeling that misbehaving in the Queen’s presence is a serious offense! lol

Hmm. For some reason, my mom wants to know if “I” can come over. How (LOOK! A STICK!) odd!

HaHa! Queen and Enforcer !! Just Love it. πŸ™‚ When one has a pack of Dogs their is always a leader and depending how large the pack is~you have your enforcers. I always likened them to a Police Department! With a Chief of Police and The Officers. That’s exactly how a pack acts. It always cracks me up!

Heehee. Typhoon, buddy, it’s one thing to be placed at the kid’s table; it’s another to be moved in with an adult because you can’t be trusted with the other kids…. But Abby applauds your, uh, ‘enthusiasm’. πŸ˜‰

Got a good laugh out of your comment of Typhoon behaving with the Queen and her Enforcer!

A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
