During our Sunday morning walk, we noticed how the leaves were beginning to change around the house.
We are probably a week or so away from the peak at our elevation (around 4700 feet or 1430 meters), so we decided to go for higher elevations and see what the leaves were doing.
We went to Frying Pan Mountain, elevation 5,340 feet (1630 meters). The fire road leads to a fire lookout tower at the top and spectacular views.
Well, when the clouds are not slightly lower than the peak. Let’s just say our views were, errr, cloudy.
We love the changing colors and chiller morning air. We always enjoy when the clouds nestle down on our Sandias and we can take a walk through the rich moist air…momma always says it reminds her of the Altiplano in Costa Rica.
Well, we’re betting you got farther on your hike this weekend than we did! Clouds don’t seem so bad compared to what we were looking at!
All the trees and plants are flowering here because it’s Spring!
Hmmm, betting winter can’t be too far away now. Most of our trees here are “in their nakies” now, and it’s so fun to run through the leaves in our back yard.
Beautiful beginnings of fall colors! That tower looks scary to me… I bet the Herd won’t climb it, or maybe I’m wrong?
Yeah that kind of puts a damper on things. Show pics when your leaves peak. I love the fall colors. I live in michigan and we have great colors too. Hugs and kisses to the herd.
Well, at least you got a good walk in! 😀
