Qannik’s Sunday Stories

Our weekend weather was spectacular – clear blue skies and highs in the 60’s to low 70’s (18-21C) depending on altitude – perfect hiking weather.  We decided Sunday morning to hike to the top of Mt Pisgah – elevation 5,721 feet (1744 meters).   Once at the peak, we settled on the rocks to enjoy the stunning views.

The morning invited many other hikers, including several families.  One little girl, Caroline, was enamored with Qannik and settled in beside him and stroked his fur.  Qannik loved the attention.  He also loved the pack of peanut butter crackers she was eating.  Unfortunately for him, a hu-dad was paying careful attention and he never succeeded in grand theft cracker.

The best moment with the little girl came near the end of our rest break.  Her dad told Caroline and her brother (whose name we never got) to get ready to go.  The little girl looked up at her dad in shock and asked, “You mean we have to hike back down?”

I have a funny feeling Caroline’s parents are now hearing “I want a dog.” Assuming they don’t have one already, that is.

Aww, poor Qannik! All that hiking and not even a stolen peanut butter cracker to sustain him?!!!!!!!

Great day to be out on the top of the world, eh? Little Caroline, at some point in her future when she is a physical scientist, may recall fondly the day spent with Qannik when she had the eureka moment of, “What goes up must come down!”

Perhaps Qannik could have given her a ride back down!

Qannik, our mom always says Sibes can make anything look comfy — and I think you just exemplified that!

She didn’t sneak Qannik just a little bite? What’s up with that?????

Poor Qannik! You must learn the art of theft better. Or to convince little girls to willingly give you their food.

you know, i think you just shed some light on the development of loki’s ridiculous crack-a-tude… he prolly committed grand theft cracker as a young pup…hence his crackery today. sigh.

He worked hard for that cracker and they always taste better when snatched out of little girls hands. Didn’t you know that?

I know just how that little girl felt! We took a wrong turn on our hike yesterday that ended up taking us A LOT farther than we’d planned.

Grand theft cracker! Bwaaaa ha ha! I will be thinking of that phrase all day today!
