Rainy Sunday

The hu-dad took one of those personality profiles at his busyness several years ago.  When the administrator was reviewing the scores, he commented that the hu-dad’s outdoor score was very high.  But, the hu-dad wondered, how come his score was so much higher than another worker who enjoyed many outdoor sports.  The administrator paused and asked, so if you are hiking down a trail and it starts raining, what happens?  The hu-dad, without pause, said, “You get wet.”  The administrator grinned and said, “Most people say you seek shelter.  Thus, your high outdoor score.”

So why do we tell this story?  Well, we were out hiking last Sunday.  And it started raining. What do you think happened?

The puddles say it might be raining just a slight bit more than a "little."

The Red Team is slogging through, though Rusty insists on taking the scenic route as always.

Qannik and Natasha, however, just used the Fur Wheel Drive.

The true test is always the water course…splendidly done! No weather wimps in your Herd! We loved the story about hu-dad.

What a funny story by your hu-dad! I think you pups have the right idea. A good rain feels great, especially after a hot day. And, being cleaned by rain is much better than a bath!

“Fur Wheel Drive” is very clever! :->

Your hu-dad is a very smart man!

Getting wet is fun. And so is playing in puddles. We are amazed at you discipline in not jumping into those delicious puddles.

So sorry for not visiting for ages but we just heard about your human’s dad and wanted to come over to offer our belated condolences!! We’ve just been to read the beautiful post about him and are so sorry for your loss. He sounded like such a special man and will be terribly missed.

We are glad to have you back. I’m glad to see that the Herd is getting you out and about, even in the rain.

My answer to that question would have been the same as yours!

R agrees with you, better to have white fur than no fur!

  10. Clive on June 19, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Well Murray and his Dad might keep going but Clive would run for cover! He hates getting wet!

Well done to all of you!

    take care

I, Huffle Mawson, do not like to get wet like that, although I don’t mind wet paws. Teddy the Goon, however, has no qualms about going out in the rain.

Heh. Funny response to the question. I would be of the ‘get wet’ (or ‘put on a jacket’) variety, while the husband would be of the ‘I probably wouldn’t have gone out to begin with’ variety! 😉

The girls are both princesses. The don’t mind being out in a snowstorm, but neither one likes the rain too much – they both tend to dash out to do their business and then dash back inside. And bounce off the walls… 😉

I love it the “fur wheel drive”….you guys have such great hikes rain or shine…now me you know I’m a dainty girl and I can’t stand the rain. My hoomans have a hard time getting me out of the house if it is raining.

Why does it always start raining when you are at the furthest end of a loop walk. Yeah. You get wet and just keep walking… 🙂

I was walking the Golden Girls the other week. About a half mile from home the skies opened and it POURED! I was as wet as if I had jumped into a lake fully dressed. BTW: Jeans can hold a lot of water! But you are right…once you get soaked you can’t get any wetter.

Rusty seems like he had a plan to keep his feet wet! It looks like a good time was had by all!

  17. The Army of Four on June 19, 2011 at 11:52 am

Oh, yeah! As long as there’s no lightning, we just keep going!!! What’s a little water and mud amongst friends – right?

You are getting rain, here in Colorado we have snow in the forcast for tonight. Snow is forcast for the high mountains and into the foot hills. Some ski slopes are still open and one plans on trying to stay open continuously until the fall snows start up. Come on out and play in the snow.

I bet Rusty’s feet were just as wet as Qannik and Natasha, from the wet grass, but at least it gave him the illusion that he was “avoiding the water”. Oh, Rusty, you are SUCH a RUSTY!

  20. Maxx on June 19, 2011 at 3:08 am

    Great hiking pics there!
Wish we have trails here where mom can take me hiking. The only place avail here is the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve but they dont allow doggies..:((
    Enjoy your Sunday!
